{"id":54760,"date":"2025-08-25T16:11:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T00:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/?p=54760"},"modified":"2025-08-25T16:18:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T00:18:28","slug":"cair-florida-to-join-family-of-palestinian-american-minor-detained-in-israel-call-for-immediate-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2025\/08\/25\/cair-florida-to-join-family-of-palestinian-american-minor-detained-in-israel-call-for-immediate-release\/","title":{"rendered":"CAIR-Florida to Join Family of Palestinian-American Minor Detained in Israel, Call for Immediate Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><strong>(TAMPA, FL, 8\/25\/2025)<\/strong> \u2013 <span data-teams=\"true\">On Tuesday, August 26, the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida), the state\u2019s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will hold a press conference at 12 p.m. at its Tampa office (8076 N. 56th St., Tampa, FL) to demand on behalf of almost 100 state and national coalition partners, that the U.S. State Department and Florida\u2019s elected officials call on the Israeli government to immediately release Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim, a 16-year-old Palestinian American citizen from Florida who has been held without trial in an Israeli prison for more than six months.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This growing coalition that consists of U.S. faith-based, human rights and civil rights organizations \u2014 including CAIR-Florida \u2014 has signed a letter urging the U.S. government to act immediately to secure the release of Florida teen Mohammed Ibrahim, an American citizen who was unjustly imprisoned by the Israeli military at age 15 and remains detained at 16. According to The Guardian, Mohammed was only 15 years old when Israeli forces raided his home in the occupied West Bank village of Silwad in February. He was reportedly blindfolded and handcuffed before being taken to Israel\u2019s Megiddo Prison, known for Israel\u2019s abuse of Palestinian children, specifically leading to malnutrition, illness, and death. Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim, a 16-year-old American, was not charged\u2014he was simply taken by Israeli forces. For nearly six months, he has withered in their prisons under a regime that calls itself our ally while denying him basic justice.<\/p>\n<p>This is not isolated. Just weeks ago, his cousin, Sayfollah Musellet, a 20-year-old from Florida, was beaten to death by illegal Israeli settlers. Two sons from one family devastated by the same violent system, funded by our tax dollars and met with our government\u2019s silence.<\/p>\n<p>We call on President Trump and the State Department: If Mohammed\u2019s life matters, act now.
