{"id":557,"date":"2004-03-12T20:00:03","date_gmt":"2004-03-13T03:00:03","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2004-03-12T20:00:03","modified_gmt":"2004-03-13T03:00:03","slug":"lindauer-pipes-connection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2004\/03\/12\/lindauer-pipes-connection\/","title":{"rendered":"Lindauer-Pipes Connection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Susan Lindauer, the accused spy for Iraq, seems to have been quite well-connected.<\/p>\n<p>In 1998, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meib.org\/articles\/0007_me2.htm\">she testified before the Lockerbie inquiry in 1998,<\/a> saying that Syria, not Libya, was responsible for the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>She supplied a copy of her deposition to Daniel Pipes&#8217; Middle East Intelligence Bulletin, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meib.org\/articles\/0007_me2.htm\">where they were eager to publish anything focusing new attention on Syria.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The charges against Lindauer is that she attempted to influence US government policy by meeting informally with an official (while failing to register as a foreign agent).  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news-miner.com\/Stories\/0,1413,113~7244~2013163,00.html\">That official has been identied as White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, her cousin.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.news-miner.com\/Stories\/0,1413,113~7244~2013160,00.html\">Lindauer is the daughter of a former candidate for governor of Alaska.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Capitol Hill staffer friend of mine has told me that this is going to be a very interesting story as the pieces of the onion are peeled away.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Susan Lindauer, the accused spy for Iraq, seems to have been quite well-connected.
