Lately, there\u2019s a \u201cTalking Heads\u201d lyric<\/a> that\u2019s been popping up in my brain: Our president\u2019s crazy\/Did you hear what he said?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A few days ago, President Trump threatened war against Nigeria. He vowed that U.S. military action against Nigeria would be \u201cfast, vicious, and sweet<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sweet? What kind of president describes warfare as \u201csweet\u201d? Truly this is militarism run amuck.<\/p>\n

What is wrong with our country? Must we wage war on everyone?<\/p>\n

Speaking of \u201csweet,\u201d J. Robert Oppenheimer described the development of the atomic bomb as a \u201ctechnically sweet<\/a>\u201d challenge for the scientists and engineers who worked on it. I suppose it was, but the results were bitter indeed.<\/p>\n

America, all is not sweetness here.<\/p>\n
