In addition to the 12 civilians killed, nine others were reportedly wounded in the attack.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rm-col-center col sm-mb-1\">\n<div class=\"widget__body clearfix sm-mt-1\">\n<div class=\"body js-expandable clearfix js-listicle-body css-listicle-body-2674302775\" data-headline=\"At Least 12 Somali Civilians\u2014Including 8 Children\u2014Killed in Suspected US Airstrikes\">\n<div class=\"body-description\" data-rm-calc-width=\"700\">\n<p>While no one has claimed responsibility for the bombing, US Africa Command (AFRICOM) <a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.africom.mil\/pressrelease\/36039\/us-forces-conduct-strikes-targeting-al-shabaab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acknowledged<\/a> carrying out weekend \u201cairstrikes targeting al-Shabaab,\u201d an al-Qaeda-affiliated militant group, near Jamame.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpecific details about units and assets will not be released to ensure continued operations security,\u201d added AFRICOM \u2013 which earlier this year stopped sharing information about civilian harm caused by US attacks.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Reports from Jamame, Lower Juba region, Somalia, indicate that a military airstrike killed at least 12 civilians, including women &amp; children, on November 16, 2025. <br \/>Local sources &amp; Somalian officials attribute the strike to U.S. Africa Command (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USAfricaCommand?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@USAfricaCommand<\/a>), which has\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Um6seDcToE\">pic.twitter.com\/Um6seDcToE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Abdiweli Mohamed jama (@inamakhtal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/inamakhtal\/status\/1990507742662975801?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 17, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p><em>Somali Guardian<\/em> reported that Danab, a US-trained Somali special forces unit, was also conducting operations in villages around Jamame. Danab often receives US air support while carrying out such missions.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend strikes follow a Danab raid in Balcad district last week in which children were reportedly killed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree were murdered including 2- and 3-year-olds,\u201d Somali activist Adan Abdulle said on Sunday. \u201cThis is not the first time that US or US-trained forces have murdered innocent civilians in cold blood. What makes these murders stand out is the callousness with which pressure was exerted on grieving families to keep quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest strikes came amid a <a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/us-airstrikes-somalia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surge in US bombings<\/a> targeting Somalia-based militants during US President Donald Trump\u2019s second term. <em>Antiwar.com\u2019<\/em>s Dave DeCamp has counted 96 US airstrikes on Somalia this year alone, based on AFRICOM data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump has shattered the annual record for US airstrikes in Somalia, which he previously set at 63 during his first term in 2019,\u201d DeCamp <a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2025\/11\/16\/us-launches-a-series-of-airstrikes-in-somalia-civilians-reported-killed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a> Sunday. \u201cFor context, President [Joe] Biden launched a total of 51 airstrikes in Somalia throughout his four years in office, and President [Barack] Obama launched 48 over eight years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s record bombardment of Somalia has received almost no coverage in the US corporate media.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/airwars.org\/conflict\/us-forces-in-somalia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to<\/a> the UK-based watchdog Airwars, US forces have killed at least 92 and as many as 167 civilians in Somalia since 2007, when then-President George W.
