The group reportedly went to countries across the world, assassinating people suspected of planning anti-American activities. <\/p>\n<p>Reports about JSOC&#8217;s activities had been floating around in the media for quite some time, but the issue is being revived by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2009\/05\/11\/gen-mckiernan-replaced-as-afghan-commander\/\">decision to recommend Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal as the new commander of American troops in Afghanistan<\/a>. Lt. Gen.
