The \u201cGreater Israel Project\u201d has garnered a great deal of attention online recently \u2013 as it should \u2013 but the question remains: is this an old wives\u2019 tale, or is it actually happening? Let\u2019s discuss.<\/p>\n
Many American Christians, Israeli Knesset members, and sympathizers of the pro-war Israeli cause often point to Genesis 15:18\u201321, which describes a promise of land, reading, \u201cfrom the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates.\u201d This would essentially mean that Israel would control the territories of modern-day Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, and Syria.<\/p>\n
The origins of Zionism were heavily influenced by biblical geography, and to be completely candid, this is either a deeply flawed interpretation of scripture or a deliberate attempt to convince the West of something that simply isn\u2019t true. I\u2019m a Christian myself, and I find this idea completely indefensible \u2013 something that should be met with widespread condemnation. The concept of using the Bible, a book rooted in wisdom and faith, to justify mass killing and territorial expansion is unquestionably demonic and inconceivable.<\/p>\n
Which brings us to today \u2013 Israel is, without question, actively attempting to expand into many of the countries listed above. If successful, it would result in the mass displacement of millions of Middle Eastern civilians and a six-figure death toll, the vast majority of whom would be innocent. The real danger is that the West has done nothing to stop it \u2013 in fact, quite the opposite. Israel and its leadership are consistently let off the hook for countless war crimes, while many Western countries enable it through one-sided arms deals and extraordinary political favors that no other nation could secure. Israel maintains this position of power through leverage that, in itself, feels deeply dystopian, such as blackmailing politicians in the United States.<\/p>\n
Tucker Carlson\u2019s interview with Mike Huckabee, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, is perhaps the most damning piece of evidence in this case. Huckabee appeared to lean directly on the same biblical justification, suggesting it would be acceptable if Israel \u201ctook it all.\u201d The remarks were met with widespread condemnation from leaders across the Middle East, and even Carlson himself appeared visibly unsettled by the rhetoric displayed during the interview.<\/p>\n
Shortly after it was announced that Carlson would be interviewing Huckabee, I sent him a text, kindly asking him to question the ambassador about his relationship with Jonathan Pollard, an Israeli spy convicted of treason in the United States. Carlson responded, acknowledging the idea \u2013 and it became the very first question asked.<\/p>\n
The only conclusion one can draw from all of this is that the Greater Israel Project is not just theoretical \u2013 it is unfolding, and has been for years. If left unchallenged, it could lead to one of the largest, most devastating events of our lifetime. I hope someone intervenes soon \u2013 in a diplomatic, courageous fashion \u2013 but the reality is that it likely won\u2019t happen.. We may be the ones left to pick up the pieces after irreversible damage has been done across the Middle East.
