{"id":700,"date":"2004-04-06T19:59:18","date_gmt":"2004-04-07T02:59:18","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2004-04-06T19:59:18","modified_gmt":"2004-04-07T02:59:18","slug":"19-us-soldiers-killed-in-24-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2004\/04\/06\/19-us-soldiers-killed-in-24-hours\/","title":{"rendered":"19 U.S. Soldiers Killed in 24 hours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Though the numbers are still somewhat inconclusive, a total of nineteen soldiers have been killed in Iraq in less than 24 hours. <\/p>\n<p>First, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/CENTCOMNews\/Casualty_Report.asp?CasualtyReport=20040411.txt\">CentCom reported that three soldiers died from combat on April 5th<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>Three Task Force 1st Armored Division soldiers were killed during separate attacks April 5-6 in the Kadhimyah district here.<\/p>\n<p>The first soldier died of wounds received during an attack that took place at about 11 a.m. April 5. The soldier was traveling with a southbound convoy when it was attacked with small-arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire.<\/p>\n<p>A second soldier died later that day, at about 9:30 p.m., when his vehicle was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade during a firefight in the same area.<\/p>\n<p>A third soldier died from wounds he received during a rocket-propelled grenade attack on his Bradley Fighting Vehicle at about 12:30 a.m., April 6.<\/ul>\n<p>The military also reported the death of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/CENTCOMNews\/Casualty_Report.asp?CasualtyReport=20040410.txt\">four Marines later in the day<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>Four Marines serving with the I Marine Expeditionary Force were killed as a result of enemy action in the Al Anbar province April 5 while conducting security and stabilization operations.<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, a highly coordinated attack on Marines in Ramadi resulted in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/4667742\/\">the deaths of at least 12<\/a>.
