{"id":7017,"date":"2010-05-06T05:50:38","date_gmt":"2010-05-06T13:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/?p=7017"},"modified":"2010-05-06T05:58:19","modified_gmt":"2010-05-06T13:58:19","slug":"ok-so-who-did-they-slaughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/06\/ok-so-who-did-they-slaughter\/","title":{"rendered":"OK, so who DID they slaughter?"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>[viddler id=f166caa9&amp;w=247&amp;h=227]&quot;Those who would slaughter innocent men, women, and children must know that the United States will do more than simply strengthen our defenses. &#8230; Around the world and here at home there are those who would attack our citizens and who would slaughter innocent men, women, and children in pursuit of their murderous agenda.&quot; <i>&#8211;U.S. President Barak Obama, 2009 &amp; 2010<\/i> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So from his statements here and elsewhere, it would seem that Mr. Obama is implacably opposed to those who &quot;<i>would slaughter innocent men, women, and children<\/i>.&quot;  <\/p>\n<p>Yet we know that he and his Administration have  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/World\/Global-News\/2010\/0202\/Obama-ups-Pakistan-drone-strikes-in-assassination-campaign\">stepped- up use of drone assassinations<\/a> &#8212; so stories reporting successful drone assassinations shouldn&#8217;t be a surprise &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;  <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/World\/terrorism-security\/2010\/0210\/Pakistani-Taliban-leader-Hakimullah-Mehsud-is -dead-say-officials\">Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud is dead, say officials &#8211; CSMonitor.com, Kristen Chick, Correspondent \/ February 10, 2010 <\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We also know that drone and air strikes are notoriously inaccurate, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/03\/what-would-that-be-like\/\"> regularly resulting in so-called &quot;collateral damage&quot;<\/a> &#8212; and that <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.publicintegrity.org\/WarCard\/\">government officials traditionally lie<\/a>.    <\/p>\n<p>So, it should also be no surprise that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2010\/05\/03\/video_shows_pakistani_taliban_leader_hakimullah_mehsud_alive_threatenin g_attacks_against_us.html\">Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud is alive<\/a> &#8212; also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/worldnews\/article-1271225\/Pakistan-Taliban-leader-alive.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20100503\/ap_on_re_as\/as_pakistan_militant_chief\"> here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But, if it wasn&#8217;t Hakimullah Mehusud they assassinated and otherwise droned to death, which innocent men, women and children <b>did<\/b> they slaughter &#8212; in pursuit of their murderous agenda?
