Ignatius admires the current \u00e2\u20ac\u0153diplomatic ambiguity,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d but thinks Obama needs to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153promptly seize opportunities for negotiation when they arise,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d noting that this will hopefully be accomplished in September or October when Iran and the P5 + 1 sit down for talks on the nuclear issue and probably Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/08\/18\/AR2010081803436.html\">Washington Post (AP)<\/a><\/em>: Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ambassador to the UN is angered that top Pentagon brass acknowledged a U.S. contingency plan to bomb Iran, denouncing the rhetoric as an unprovoked \u00e2\u20ac\u0153threat.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei made similar statements, adding that, should the United States attack, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the field of the Iranian nation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s confrontation will not be only our region.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Khamanei also warned that belligerent talk would end negotiations.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/weeklystandard.com\/blogs\/intelligence-failure\">Weekly Standard Blog<\/a><\/em>: Gabriel Schoenfeld tries to sort the recent chatter about the Iranian nuclear clock writing, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Time may be on our side in dealing with Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u201dbut then again it may not.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Not quite endorsing the nuclear time line in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lobelog.com\/jeffrey-goldberg-tries-to-rationalize-another-preemptive-war-in-the-middle-east\/\">Jeffrey Goldberg\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s latest piece<\/a> (the Israel contention that next July is the doomsday), Schoenfeld then takes on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/international\/archive\/2010\/08\/bombing-iran-what-is-the-atlantics-line\/61408\/\"><em>Atlantic<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s James Fallows, who thinks the United States has some time<\/a>. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153For an analyst as thoughtful as James Fallows to assert categorically that we will not be taken by surprise is itself a surprise. One might even call it an intelligence failure,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d writes Schoenfeld.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/pajamasmedia.com\/blog\/an-iranian-connection-to-the-cordoba-house-ground-zero-mosque\/?singlepage=true\">Pajames Media<\/a><\/em>: Hudson Institute Fellow <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightweb.irc-online.org\/profile\/Bayefsky_Anne\">Anne Bayefsky<\/a> writes that the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ground Zero Mosque\u00e2\u20ac\u009d has \u00e2\u20ac\u0153an Iranian connection.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  Bayefsky cites a photograph of Cordoba Initiative chairman, Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, and Iranian Mohammad Javad Larijani at a 2008 event sponsored by the Initiative in Kuala Lumpur. Larijani defended Iran at the UN Human Rights Council earlier this year. Bayefsky warns that, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Iranian connection to the launch of Cordoba House may go beyond a relationship between Rauf and Larijani. The Cordoba Initiative lists one of its three major partners as the UN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Alliance of Civilizations.
