Lynch disagrees with Goldberg\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s assertion that a failure for the Obama administration to act militarily will result in an Israeli strike on Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s alleged nuclear facilities. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Instead, I see an attempt on the part of Goldberg\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Israeli sources to prepare a policy climate in which such an attack seems increasingly plausible and other options are foreclosed \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d writes Lynch. He concludes that both Israelis and people in the United States are aware of the disastrous consequences of a military strike and are not nearly as fixated on the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153never ending series\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of deadlines as Israeli and U.S. hawks would like to suggest.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704340504575447421593352224.html?mod=djemITP_h\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a><\/em>: Gerald F. Seib suggests that as the costs imposed by sanctions on Iran go up, Tehran is looking for a face-saving \u00e2\u20ac\u0153exit ramp\u00e2\u20ac\u009d to give up its alleged nuclear weapons program. Seib disagrees with hawks, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightweb.irc-online.org\/profile\/Bolton_John\">John Bolton<\/a>, that Russia\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s assistance in fueling the Bushehr nuclear power plant pushes Iran closer to having a nuclear weapons program. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153By providing the fuel, and taking away spent fuel, the Russians have undercut Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s argument that it has to do its own enrichment,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Seib. He continues, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Beyond calling Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bluff, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a genuine need to find out whether Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s leaders\u00e2\u20ac\u201dat least some of them\u00e2\u20ac\u201dmight actually be interested in a way out.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704017904575409611936612020.html?mod=rss_opinion_main\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a><\/em>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightweb.irc-online.org\/profile\/Foundation_for_Defense_of_Democracies\">Foundation for Defense of Democracies<\/a>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightweb.irc-online.org\/profile\/Ledeen_Michael\">Michael Ledeen<\/a> argues that internal conflict and sabotage are becoming more widespread within Iran and, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153[e]ven the government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s campaign of repression seems increasingly sloppy.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  Ledeen has been one of the more vocal neoconservative supporters of the Green Movement, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lobelog.com\/akbar-ganji-says-military-attack-on-iran-would-destroy-opposition\/\">even when Iranian pro-democracy reformists have said<\/a> that explicit U.S. support of the movement could damage its legitimacy within Iran.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/nationworld\/world\/la-fg-iran-sanctions-20100824,0,6657220.story?utm_source=FPI+Master+Distribution&#038;utm_campaign=1867ceb2a9-FPI_Overnight_Brief8_23_2010&#038;utm_medium=email\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>: Borzou Daragahi and Ramin Mostaghim report on how international sanctions designed to punish Iran for its nuclear program are benefiting Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most hard-line elite and the Revolutionary Guard.
