(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commentarymagazine.com\/blogs\/index.php\/rubin\/347796\"><em>Commentary<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Jennifer Rubin is encouraged<\/a>, calling Sarkozy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s comments \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Better Than Nothing.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d)<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/iran_nuclear\">Associated Press (via Yahoo)<\/a><\/em>: Nasser Karimi reports that Tehran is proposing to jointly assemble nuclear fuel for the Bushehr nuclear plant alongside Russian technicians. The U.S. and Western allies agreed to lift their opposition to the Bushehr on the condition that Russia handle all the nuclear fuel. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We have made a proposal to Russia to create a consortium under Russian license to do part of the work in Russia and part in Iran,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the head of Iran\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s atomic energy agency, Ali Akbar Salehi, told the Iranian state-run <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/iran_nuclear\">Press TV<\/a>. Moscow is reported to be studying the new proposal.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/08\/25\/opinion\/25iht-edcohen.html\">International Herald Tribune<\/a><\/em>: Avner Cohen and Marvin Miller make the case for Israel ending its longstanding policy of nuclear opacity.  \u00e2\u20ac\u0153International support for Israel and its opaque bomb is being increasingly eroded by its continued occupation of Palestinian territory and the policies that support that occupation. Such criticism of these policies might well spill over into the nuclear domain, making Israel vulnerable to the charge that it is a nuclear-armed pariah state, and thus associating it to an uncomfortable degree with today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s rogue Iranian regime,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d they write. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Indeed, while almost all states publicly oppose the acquisition of nuclear weapons by Iran, there is also growing support for dealing with this problem in an \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcevenhanded\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 manner, namely, by establishing a nuclear weapons free zone across the entire region.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  The authors emphasize that international support for Israel and its policy of opacity is eroding as Israel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s occupation of Palestinian territories drags on.
