Conservative Support

I am a conservative Republican. We agree on nothing. Except, perhaps, for one issue: Israel and Palestine. So, thanks for your articles.

I've found that some (not all) of Ran HaCohen's compelling articles have clarified my thinking on the issue. I hope he doesn't find that alarming.

In the specific case of Israel and Palestine, I've searched for conservative observers who believe, as I do, that there is a wholesome and righteous foundation in conservative thought for support of the Palestinians. These conservatives are mighty scarce. Pity.

We believe in self-determination, individualism, democracy, and all that the word freedom implies. A pity that my people can't find any values that apply to the Palestinians.

Bosnia

I enjoyed Nebojsa Malic's recent column on "Bosnia Revisited, 10 Years On".

Bosnia has indeed become a "No Man's Land" with no end in sight.

Maybe it is time for and official change of name. How about
"Bufferzonia and Hurtstogovernit"?

Enough is Enough

After Bush helps encourages Israel to go after Arafat, he then says, enough is enough, and to back off.

Isn't that what Bush senior did with Hussein?

Scripture

Although I take Tom Ridge's recent announcement about potential suicide bombers in the US seriously, I question exactly who would be responsible for such an attack.

Either the Israeli government or the Palestinian Authority could benefit politically from such an attack depending upon the circumstances. All the more reason for the US to get out of the Middle East, develop domestic sources of oil and energy and and using the Army to start policing its own borders. I said it once and I'll say it again, God will decide the fate of Israel and not America. Don't listen to ignorant politicians like Bill Bennett of Embalm America and counterfeit Christians such as Pat Robertson about what our duties are. The Bible states that God will curse the enemies of Israel (when He sees fit, not Bennett or Robertson). There is no Scripture cursing those that are neutral, at least I haven't found one yet.

News Blockade

Thanks for your excellent work. Found strong picture from Palestine taken by Swedish photographer working for Reuters who broke the news blockade: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/story/0,2789,152589,00.html
