Posted May 21, 2002 Timing I would like to express my appreciation for your site. It is extremely frustrating to see the total lack of objectivity in our mainstream media outlets. Your coverage of the deeds of our War Party -- from Kosovo, to the Middle East and everywhere else in the world -- is comprehensive and greatly appreciated. It at least provides some small means to counter the propaganda and lies. One observation -- it's very interesting after all these months, finally there are questions about the administration's foreknowledge of the attacks. The timing of such questions couldn't have anything to do with the gradual outing of the Israeli spy scandal, could it? Congressmen who weeks ago were impaling anyone as a traitor even mentioning investigations into the September 11 disaster are wholeheartedly supporting an inquiry. Could the next step be that our wonderful friend Israel tried so hard to warn us, but was horribly spurned by George W., son of that 'lonely little' anti-Semite. I'm sure the Israel-first weasels will be saying that the spies were for our own good, trying to aid their best friend and had no intention of hurting the US. McKinney I think your site is generally excellent. Likewise, I frequently enjoy Raimondo's writing but then he'll spoil it by making some stupid and factually incorrect attack on "leftists", real and imagined. In his piece "The Story of The Century" he viciously and stupidly attacks Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney for being a crazed "conspiracy theorist", parroting the slander story put forth by the Washington Post and claims she presents no evidence to back her claims. Charges of Bush Administration foreknowledge and complicity in 9-11 have been made (with good documentation) by people whose work frequently appears on Antiwar.com including George Szamuely, Michel Chossudovsky and Jared Israel. If Justin Raimondo or anybody else wishes to look at a list of articles on this, (well footnoted) and a number from mainstream sources they can go to http://globalresearch.ca or a variety of other websites including http://www.copvcia.com or http://www.tenc.net. It's rather sad that Raimondo chooses instead of critically and carefully examining the evidence of U.S. Government foreknowledge to (once again) claim the real problem was that Israel had knowledge of the upcoming attack and failed to warn the US. Israel (through Mossad) did in fact give warnings to the FBI and CIA on an upcoming terrorist attack, along with several other countries including Egypt and Russia (see for instance, Sunday Telegraph September 16, 2001 "Israel security issued urgent warning to CIA on large-scale terror attacks" by David Wastell and Phillip Jacobson). As for administration officials and others profiting personally from 9-11, in the words of Cynthia McKinney "it is known that President Bush's father, through the Carlyle Group had -- at the time of the attacks -- joint business interests with the Bin Laden construction company and many defense industry holdings, the stocks of which have soared since September 11." Foreknowledge If anyone doubts that the Bush administration had any foreknowledge of the attacks that came on 2001 September 11 should consider this. Almost immediately after the attacks occurred Bin Laden was accused as having been behind them. While, clearly, Bin Laden and company would have been among the top suspects, there are others that could have and would have had the motive and resources to carry out the attacks -- Iraqis, Serbians, many groups and governments in Central and South America, disgruntled Americans, even Canadians (after all the vast majority of anti-American web sites originate in Canada). Yet only Bin Laden and al-Qaeda were suspected. Obviously there were things that some in the government knew and weren't saying. But then, the war between the US and al-Qaeda did not begin in September. There was the embassy bombings, the attack on the USS Cole, the missile attacks that Clinton ordered and others. There were rumors that Clinton might order an attack on Afghanistan just before the last election (possibly to alter the outcome of that election). It was just a matter of time before there was an attack in the US. Another thing to consider is that the US military began its retaliatory attacks within a month. The military just doesn't react that quickly unless the machinery was already set into motion. To some, myself included, the attacks that occurred in September were not necessarily unexpected nor completely unprovoked. The worst part of this whole affair is not so much the war per say but rather the fact that those in government, especially in law enforcement, have seized the opportunity to increase intrusions and to restrict our liberties. Unfortunately, there are no good guys in this war. From the Nile to the Euphrates I appreciate you bringing to our attention the notion that some Zionists have interpreted Genesis 15:18 "from the Nile to the Euphrates" as God's ultimate bequest to Jews. It is interesting to note how 'the seed of Abraham' somehow excludes Ishmael who is definitely from Abraham's seed (although not of Sarah) and is reflected in the usage of the name Ibrahim among Arabs and Moslems more broadly. Such a view of "from the Nile to the Euphrates" as being the promised scope for Jews shows just how deeply Zionist rejectionism of Arabs goes. They reject even the kinship with Arabs as being the joint descendants of Abraham, the father of monotheism. All the more ironic in that the issue of monotheism and opposition to idol worship is especially significant among radical Moslems such as Wahabis and was exemplified by the dynamiting of the Buddhas in Afghanistan by the Taliban. With militant Islam you see the modern day replay of Abraham's smashing of the idols in his father's workshop. Yet the Arab descendants of Abraham are denied existence by such a flavor of Zionism which sees Jews as being promised "from the Nile to the Euphrates." This is but an extension of the notion that anti-Semitism only refers to hostility toward Jews. For as we all should know Semitic is a term which refers to both the languages and peoples: Hebrews and Arabs. If to be anti-Semitic is only to be anti-Jewish, then surely Zionism inherently means to be anti-Arab. Real Estate How ironic that your site features an author, Christopher Montgomery, who opines that a certain piece of real estate gained by the English in 1704 during the war of Spanish succession should be retained by the victor of that conflict. You then go on to feature several other authors who make the claim that land acquired by military conquest should be returned to the vanquished. I'm speaking of course about the land won by the Israelis during the 1967 war. Christopher Montgomery Replies: I can't admit to being bothered by what they do in the Middle East, but I would point out the small distinction between Gibraltar and Palestine: Gibraltarians want their current rulers to remain just so. Fan Mail Ran across your site for the first time. Keep up the good work. (I sent along $25 to help out.) Stop by my place sometime if you have a few minutes. ~ Jim Capozzola, http://rittenhouse.blogspot.com Warrior Species Eventually, Israel will drive the Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza. They have the arms thanks to the USA, and are reprehensible enough to do it. But that is not the end of the story. For their actions, they will be seen as Nazi-like and will win the indignation of the entire world, maybe even most in the USA. Already, we are the only country that really supports them, and there are certainly signs of wear even here in the tolerant Bay Area. Many Jews will leave their host countries to return to the lands the Israelis will then hold. Then, trouble comes. A comet will steak across the Mediterranean basin, fragmenting along the way. Many areas will be hit, and many fragments just land in the sea. The terminus of the flight path will be Israel. About 144,000 Jews will be left. One can read about the strike, in Revelation Chapters 8 and 9 or Zechariah. By the way, because of your articles, I have started to read Antiwar.com. It is a pretty good web site, and I am a hawk. Further, I think that humans are a warrior species. ~ Barry W., California |
