Israeli TV airs call to father after children killed

Israeli TV was in the middle of an interview with foreign minister Tzipi Livni when they interrupted for a phone call from Dr. Aboul Aish, a Palestinian doctor who is a regular fixture on Israeli TV.

The in-studio correspondent didn’t realize the extent of what he was about to report. As he began to question Dr. Aish, he heard the doctor’s agony.

A warning, the following is heart-wrenching.

  1. The death of innocent children is horrific, does not matter who they are, or what nationality. Israel should do a lot more to minimize the loss of life among innocent civilians and HAMAS should stop firing thousands of rockets at civilian targets.

    1. Maybe if Israel stopped stealing and occupying other people’s land and stopped making life in general miserable for Palestinians, then groups like Hamas wouldn’t arise to fire almost completely ineffective rockets at former Palestinian towns which are now part of Israel, the occupying power.

Would that count as Israel doing a lot more to minimize the loss of life among inncoent civilians?

      1. Well, let’s put aside the fact that the entire “occupied” west bank was siezed while Israel was in the course of DEFENDING HERSELF from an attack by the Kingdom of Jordan (which was in a military pact with Egygpt at the time). And let’s also put aside the fact that the cities being shelled are NOT even in the so called occupied territories. Let’s put that to the side. So I suppose that if Israel is an occupying power than that gives Hamas the right to violate international law with the deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of civilians? And you say that the rockets are “almost completly ineffective?” Tell that to the families of the dead! And tell that to the parents of thousands of school children who are psychologically traumatized because they have to run to bomb shelters every five minutes.

I am not saying Israel is in the right either. They have an illegal and immoral blockade of Gaza and they need to do a lot more to alleviate the plight of the people there, but all you do is blame Israel for everything. Start seeing both sides of the picture.

        1. So Israel can go around “seizing” other people’s land and occupying it, like something out of the Middle Ages, and the Palestinians aren’t supposed to resist?

Jordan and Israel have a peace agreement now, so why is Israel still occupying the West Bank?

And you mention the blockade on Gaza almost as an afterthought, as if over a year of food, medical and energy deprivation was not the precursor to Hamas launching rockets. Israel repeatedly violated the ceasefire by its siege of Gaza and again when it attacked the strip in Nov and killed 6 Palestinians, and this is by Israel’s own admission.

See, you think people who criticize Israel are biased, but we ARE looking at both sides of the picture, and while on one side people are being treated for “shock” after hearing an emergency siren, on the other side entire families are buried under the rubble of their homes.

        2. It has been long demonstrated that the Israelis were the aggressors in 1967. Moshe Dyan spilled the beans not long after the war was over. In any case, the use of war to permanently seize land and use it for colonization is a violation of the entire international structure since World War II. Israel is in the wrong, plain and simple.

    2. “Israel should do a lot more to minimize the loss of life among innocent civilians ”

How many innocent lives lost per “terrorist” killed is the acceptable minimum, Mr R?

      1. I don’t know. That is a very difficult question. Even one innocent life lost is too many. And our hearts should break for every life lost. But when terrorists PURPOSEFULLY hide behind woman and children and specifically fire their rockets from schools and hospitals, thus drawing woman and children into the line of fire, who is really at fault?

        1. Sorry, Tim, but Israel itself once pressed to provide any EVIDENCE of the claim that Hamas fires from schools, hospitals or mosques was forced to admit that was a load of bull.

        2. According to the “terrorists hide behind women and children” line of logic, then the IDF would like to be able to use U.S. funded tanks, missiles, willie pete, and helicopter gunships to mount offensives against Hamas resisters–standing in an open clearing like British Redcoats in the Revolutionary War?

Nonesense. Such doublespeak is absurd. The appropriate saying goes: “Terrorism is the defense of the poor; War is the Terrorism of the rich.”

It takes a very sick mind to perpetuate the myth that a starving band of resisters should march upon Israel in uniform to be slaughtered. It takes an even sicker mind to regurgitate the line that Gazans should not resist an onslaught, not to mention the occupation itself.

Furthermore, the CONSTANT refrain every time the IDF destroys yet another UN school or building where civilians are taking shelter (50 already) that “the army was returning fire,” is demonstrable hogwash. This slaughter is the first one in history in which it is argued (by the IDF) that there are no civilians.

        3. Seeing Through the Lies
The Facts About Hamas and the War on Gaza

“The record is fairly clear. You can find it on the Israeli website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. Israel broke the ceasefire by going into the Gaza and killing six or seven Palestinian militants. At that point—and now I’m quoting the official Israeli website—Hamas retaliated or, in retaliation for the Israeli attack, then launched the missiles. Now, as to the reason why, the record is fairly clear as well. According to Ha’aretz, Defense Minister Barak began plans for this invasion before the ceasefire even began. In fact, according to yesterday’s Ha’aretz, the plans for the invasion began in March. And the main reasons for the invasion, I think, are twofold. Number one; to enhance what Israel calls its deterrence capacity, which in layman’s language basically means Israel’s capacity to terrorize the region into submission. After their defeat in July 2006 in Lebanon, they felt it important to transmit the message that Israel is still a fighting force, still capable of terrorizing those who dare defy its word.

And the second main reason for the attack is because Hamas was signaling that it wanted a diplomatic settlement of the conflict along the June 1967 border. That is to say, Hamas was signaling they had joined the international consensus, they had joined most of the international community, overwhelmingly the international community, in seeking a diplomatic settlement. And at that point, Israel was faced with what Israelis call a Palestinian peace offensive. And in order to defeat the peace offensive, they sought to dismantle Hamas. ”

But facts never mattererd to demagogues.

    3. “The death of innocent children is horrific” Yes it is Tim and you as a Jew should be out in the streets protesting, not sitting on this site trying to rationalize these murders. You sit behind your computer everyday and make one stupid excuse after another for your beloved Israel. Grow the F^ck up. No better yet SHUT THE F^CK UP! There is no excuse for this barbarity, and you are one demented Ass if you can watch a video like this and still not get it.

      1. Everything he says Brad, is just rationalization and self-deception. The Jews like having Palestine, they like being in control of it (if only those gosh darn pesky Palestinians would just go away!) Just about every site has a “Tim R”. They are all the same; keyboard warriors for Israel spouting the same AIPAC drivel. We all know the REAL reason America supports Israel so blindly, the fantastic power of the Jewish lobby and its successful manipulation and purchase of America’s dysfunctional and corrupt political process. My greatest fear is that someday this will all come back on us. There is no guarantee the Arab world will ALWAYS be as weak and chaotic as it is now.

        1. It has already come back – it’s called 9/11. And it will happen again, and when the terrorists cite the Gaza massacre the same stupid Tim R’s will ask, “Why do they hate us?”

        2. Yes of course, your right. 9/11 was clearly ‘blowback’ for American actions in the mideast, the Bushling’s claims that they attacked us “because we are free”, notwithstanding. And I am sure there will be more attacks in the future, but what I am really driving at here is the possibility of a major strategic shift in global power regarding the Arab world (and possibly the larger Islamic one) and the USA (with or without the rest of the west). Look at the tremendous growth of China for example. Anyone think TODAY the U.S. would send an army into North Korea a few miles from China’s border like we did in 1950? The USA could find decades hence that it has painted itself into a strategic corner much like say, Chamberlain’s foolish pledge to Poland or the USA’s own inability to extricate itself from Vietnam in the 1960’s. The safe prediction? Lots more trouble.

      2. Brad Smith writes: “SHUT THE F^CK UP”

I am sorry to see that you have sunken to such a level. Profanity and puerile comments like that do not leave room for an open, civil, and dignified debate. Grow up.

        1. I think he was responding in kind to your puerile comments Timmy. Your tired old lies about the 6 day war are one thing but when you start casting doubt on whether these territories are occupied or not, you’ve sunk to the level where reasoned debate is moot.

I agree with Brad and I sincerely wish you would STFU too. You are a disgrace to humanity and an evil evil little man.

    4. So Tim, Hamas just woke up one day and said hey let’s fire rockets at Israel just for the heck it?

Seriously who do you think you are talking to? You won’t find the same propagandized illiterate simpletons here as you do on your rightwing blogs/websites. Your rocket comment obviously overlooks the illegal occupation. Furthermore, look at the West Bank. What have they got for not firing rockets? That’s right, more occupation, more killings by the IDF, more settlements and more security checkpoints. So don’t fire rockets – get more of the same, or fire rockets and get more of the same. The choice for an occupied people is pretty clear.

    5. I hope every here is smart enough not to be fooled by your crocodile tears over the anguish of this poor man over the loss of his family. After all they were only Arab children. You know the same Arabs whose social relations are only mediated by violence. To hell with you, and to hell with your brother in hate, JJ Doyle. You are nothing but a racist creep and everyone in here should remember that fact.

  2. Timmy your hubris is dripping from each word you typed.

Maybe, perhaps, it might be a good idea for Israel to stop firing thousands of artillery shells into Gaza, each of those 155mm high explosive shells has more destructive power than 100 Qassam rockets. When one of those hits a building it doesn’t leave burn marks or other cosmetic damage, it reduces the building to rubble. And lets not forget the use of White Phosphorus “illumination” shells exploding 20 feet above ground in the middle of the day in heavily populated areas of Gaza, its guaranteed that civilians will be hit by the skin burning fragments(using them this low in populated areas is a war crime). And what about the hundreds of 500lb bombs Israel has rained on Gaza, they seem to be School/Hospital/Bomb Shelter Guided Bombs.

  3. What is sad is that Israel creates more enemies with each passing day(with actions like these). When you have a small population it is not wise to create Millions of enemies.

    1. Well, the “Kill ’em all and let God sort ’em out” crowd doesn’t view all those enemies as a tragedy, rather as an opportunity . . .

      1. That’s only true if the “enemies” are poorly armed Farmers or Bedouins, but when the “enemies” are better armed then the “targets of opportunity” may become the “crowd” you mentioned. Really the lesson learned by Hitler should not have to be re-learned.

  4. And it seems with their new “Cease Fire” they will create the conditions for the re-occupation of Gaza. And the Palestinians will be forced either to starve or to leave, both of which are acceptable to Israel which no doubt has already written up the Settlement “Expansion Program” for Gaza.

  5. What have the Israeli-Special-Interests-Zionists learned from the German-Special-Interest-Nazis??? Nothing!!! Rothbard compared the state to the mafia in his work “Anatomy of the State.” In that sense the Israeli mafia are exploiting the atrocities committed to the Jewish and Non-Jewish peoples of Europe for their own special-interest gains. Let’s remember the Jews were no the only victims of Nazi propaganda. My uncle, grandfather, and grandmother were their victims. What Zionism did to Palestine is to what the Nazis did to the Jews of Europe!!! If any people of Jewish descent should be compensated they are the victims of Nazi and European antisemitism and murder. However, most of them are dead now. And I’m sure they’re moving in their graves now in shame and dispair to what Israel has done to the peoples of Palestine. Israel does not belong in Palestine, but in Germany. Most of the Jews living in Palestinian Israel have no family connections to the land. This is “Grand Theft Murder.!!!” Murder is murder no matter of what connotations it arises!!! The Israeli authorities (not necessarily the Jewish people) are acting and becoming like the Nazi regime!!! And don’t label me an antisemite!!! How you know I may not be Jewish???

  6. P.S. I became an “Economist” thanks to one of my Jewish-Economist Professors!!! Not that it matters. Politics and religion don’t mix!!! When they do, they tend to create cracked-out theories, discrimination, prejudice, despair, and murder!!!

  7. It is horrific!!! He was only helping the injured!!! I cried while watching to video!!! Israeli-Special-Interest-Zionists are truly murderers and Nazis!!! I can’t believe the world can be watching this and do nothing to stop it. Lessen learned, they are all f****n mafias and all they care about is their own gratification and they don’t give a s**t about humanity!!! I believe the time has come to do away with all governments and central banking institutions!!! May Peace Prevail and Light Come to Those Infected by the Disease of Murder and Exploitation!!!

    1. Right on Peter! Yes, all states are criminal orginizations. “Our” government both here and in Israhell are sick demented bastards. At least if your dealing with the mafia they have a code of honor (ha ha).

“I believe the time has come to do away with all governments and central banking institutions”!!!

Thats about it, if we could go back to the beliefs of Washington and Jefferson we might have a chance, but unfortunately the Hamiltonians have won the day. It has come down to one simple fact, we can either get back to the Constitution or be destroyed by our greed and ignorance. The only way a govenment can work is if it works for the people and in the most finite way possible. The one function the Feds have is to protect “our” borders, the rest should be left up to the people.

I also cried for that poor man, but at the same time it pissed me off. It was “our” bombs bought with money stolen from me and you that did the damage. It’s outrageous, we are all victims of the state but this man and his family most of all.

      1. The idea that governments can be limited by written constitutions is a fantasy. Look at the United States today. Rothbard was correct. The state is nothing but a gang of criminals writ large. The entire history of the 20th century with all of its wars and slaughters proves Rothbards’s point. The 21st century promises more of the same. The goal of every humane and decent person must be the complete extermination of the State and its murderous institutions.

  8. It’s hard to make political comments when you see this. It does make me reconsider paying taxes ever again.

  9. The wiser Palestinians know that they should not smile at the IDF at the checkpoints. The ones that fail to remember that, are the ones most harassed. IDF wants the subhumans that it lets pass, totally subdued. A smile usually and somehow points to a sort of aspiration or hope. It breaks one’s heart to even think of how stupid Dr. Aish feels for smiling at Israelis while being torn apart at the sight of his …

    1. Ali, a smile is a goofy thing. In the US we smile at everyone, but in many cultures it is only reserved for family and friends. In many nations smiling at a stranger is taken as an offense. It’s like, what do you know that I don’t and why are you grinnig at me? What’s it like in Iran? Do you smile at everyone or reserve it for the right occasion? Just curious. I know the only way I could smile at an Israeli soldier blockading my country was if I knew something he didn’t.

I don’t think Dr. Aish will do much smiling again. I’ll pray for him and his family as well as for all of mankind. What a sad sad day.

      1. Brad Smith,

In Iran and I would say in the Middle East, a smile is a sign of courtesy. It is also a sign of acceptance. But most of all, as it is in every part of the world, with pure humanity unencumbered by abstractions of one social order or another, a smile is a sign of humanity with everything that comes with it, dignity, hope, love and so forth.

That and also that the animals don’t smile. The debate may not be settled yet, but IDF is doing its best.

        1. Thanks for the reply. As I said I was curious what the customs were. One interesting thing I have noticed in the US is that in the smaller towns and communities people are much more likely to smile at stangers than in the large cities. I think that in the larger cities people prefer to remain anonymous probably out of self defence. Inviting strangers into your life with a smile can be dangerous, in the cities you simply don’t know who you are dealing with. In the small towns everyone knows everone and their histories as well as their families.

An interesting column was written recently on pravda about the Russian culture and smiles.

        2. While I’ve never lived in the Middle East, I know that it is an Islamic tradition that even a smile or a kind word is charity. So based off that, I would think it safe to assume that smiling in most Middle Eastern countries would not be out of place.

Disclaimer: Traveled to the middle east a few times, but never lived there.

Not tiring to distract from the significance of this article:
Brad, you should check out Rick Steve’s Iran documentary being shown currently being shown on PBS stations for an interesting look at Iranian Culture.

  10. The IDF has no mercy for the children in Gaza nursery schools

“This war is also child’s play because of its victims. About a third of those killed in Gaza have been children – 311, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 270 according to the B’Tselem human rights group – out of the 1,000 total killed as of Wednesday. Around 1,550 of the 4,500 wounded have also been children according to figures from the UN, which says the number of children killed has tripled since the ground operation began.

This is too large a proportion by any humanitarian or ethical standard.

It is enough to look at the pictures coming from Shifa Hospital to see how many burned, bleeding and dying children now lie there. History has seen innumerable brutal wars take countless lives.

But the horrifying proportion of this war, a third of the dead being children, has not been seen in recent memory”

  11. Children found with bullets lodged in their head

Cairo: Doctors operating the only brain-scanning machine at an Egyptian hospital near Gaza have been almost overwhelmed by the number of Palestinian children arriving with bullet wounds to the head.

On just one day last week, staff at the Al Arish hospital in Sinai were called to perform CAT scans on a nine year old, two 10 year olds and a 14 year old, each of whom had a bullet lodged in their brain after coming under fire during the Israeli ground assault on Gaza…

..Among them last week was nine-year-old Anas Haref, who arrived with a bullet in her brain. Dr Ahmad Yahia, head of the trauma team, broke the news to her grandmother that the girl was not expected to live.

“The bullet has damaged a big part of her brain,” said Dr Yahia. “It came in, hit the skull wall and then changed direction downwards.”

  12. Clearly a set up for Livni. At least there is responsible jounalism in Israel where they can debate such things without race entering into it.

Yeah Livni, what do you have to say to the good Dr?

  13. Well, at least we can rest assured that with the doctor’s daughters killed, there will be that many fewer terrorists in the world. Right?

  14. “Human Shields” in action.

There were militants in the building that the Doctor’s children were in.

That is the propaganda for all the propagandists out there. Take notes. You’ll need them if this ever comes up again.

Does it even matter that Grad rocket fragments were found in these poor little girls brains on autopsy? Grad rockets were fired by Hamas, but some misfire, killing Palestinians. As the facts are no established in this case, Peter and Brad, does this change your horror? Brad and Peter, are you just as disgusted when Jordan killed 4-5000 Palestinians in 1970? a million and half and counting in Darfur? Sudan? Brad and Peter, were you just as disgusted when Hamas threw dozens of Fatah brass from the 11’nth story HQ in Gaza City? killing and maiming hundreds? Were you guys marching in the streets over Cambodia? Seems that more than 1000 died there? Or does it only ‘count’ when the dastardly Jews do the killing?

    1. Oh the old spoiled kid argument. “Other people do it but since I don’t see you denouncing it, it makes what Israel did okay.” And you have to love the lie of the autopsy. Supporters of mass-murder have no shame.

  16. The same day a child of the Palestinian Astrophysicist was killed by the Israeli. A few days before the father of the Palestinian journalist was killed at his farm. He was a judge, a peace activist, and he hated HAMAS. He thought that his solitary farm was the safest place to be since there were no fighters around.
Well, his land was close to the Israeli border, and Israeli settlers want this fertile land. The house was erased from the face of earth for the benefit of the future Israeli land grab.
To all of you claiming that Israel is “trying to avoid civilian casualties” – shooting in Gaza is like shooting fish in a barrel – hard to miss, you know.

We only react when we are made a part of this carnage! I wish somebody found a place to sign the letter to our Representatives to tell them to go to hell with their almost unanimous support for murderous Stern Gangs.

  17. A Quassam rocket is a few feet of steel tube fueled by a fertilizer and sugar mixture. The rocket apetures are not even angled, so they don’t even spiral, let alone have a guidance system. At the head, they may have some explosives which are triggered by a crude fuze consisting of a bullet.

Let’s be clear when we talk about what these “thousands of rockets” consist of. They bear little relation to the sophisticated, guided, and highly destructive devices we know as “rockets” in the US.

It’s easy enough to get an idea of what quassams are made of and look like. See Wiki.

  18. At least Tzipi Livini’s poll numbers up since the attack on Gaza began. There is an election in Febuary you know.

  19. Do these Jews read history….do they realize they were the first terrorist in Palestine….do they realize all the terrorist attacks againts Arabs while they bombing Brithish instalations in Palestine prior to 1948. How do you think they got Israel…do they know there organiztions that have now evolved into legitimate well only in their eyes and the US’s did alot worst than Hamas is doing now…Do they realize that it was the Israeli governement who financed Hamas to counter the PLO….do they know they blew up the King David hotel in 1948 that housed British government officials…do they realize that they have stolen more and more land since 1967 which at that point they had already quadrople the land allocated to them…but I’ll go on all day with Do they know…but they do know and everyday they prove that they the Zionist are not God’s children but the Devils advocates….to bad real Jews gets lumped with them unfortunately….LEARN TO SPEAK FOR YOURSHELVES…DON’T SAY THIS IS HOW THEY THINK AND THIS IS WHAT THEY DO BECAUSE YO DON’T….YOU ARE NOT GOD AND NEITHER IS ANYONE ELSE…YOU CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR YOU AND NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE…YOU STUPID ZIONIST DEVILS.

  20. Israel did 9/11; Mossad did 9/11. Google: Zionism and 9/11. What a truly corrupt Congress we have, and with Raimondo, I mourn the inauguration of Obama. Please send money to help the victims of Gaza. Some of it may get through.

  21. Israel is not attacking “people who shoot rockets at them”. If they just wanted to stop the rocket attacks, they could do things like implement an antimissile system around Sderot and the few villages near enough to Gaza as to be affected. Or just evacuate them. The rockets can only be launched from an area right on the Gazan border to reach Israel, areas that can be pin pointed with ease, so why the wholesale slaughter of all of Gaza? Why bomb schools, hospitals, mosques, and UN facilities, when the technology exists to make surgical strikes? Only one answer – hate. A deep, animalistic hatred of Arabs on the part of the Zionistic Jews. The same hatred that led Israel to carpet bomb half of Lebanon with cluster bombs over the capture of a couple of Israeli soldiers. Again it was the bombing of schools, hospitals, water treatment plants, electrical generation plants, etc. – civilian targets. And destruction of areas that could not possibly be “terrorist” enclaves Destruction for the sake of destruction. A desire to destroy a whole people. Why? Again it was a deep, tribal-like hatred. The kind of hatred that allows otherwise sane people to pack a lunch and go overlook the slaughter as entertainment as was done by Israelis going out to view the destruction of Gaza.
All decent Americans should view our “special relationship” with Zionism as something that is unclean.

  22. Obama is silent about this slaughter with US weapons and we all know why. Obama will today order the Pentagon to send more rockets, bombs and white phosphorous bombs to Israel to continue to kill more muslim children. Today Bush’s Wars are Obama’s wars. Stop the War! Impeach Obama!

  23. This Dr. had been interviewed by Israeli TV prior to this happening. All he wanted to do was take his family out of Gaza. Go to Europe or the US. Then this happened. Put all the insanity behind them. Israel created a(nother) Harvey Dent.
