The Ties of History

Much work has been done by Antiwar.com and others in the past to unearth Great Britain's intelligence network in the United States leading up to World War II and how it helped bring the United States into the war on their side back in 1941. Sixty years later, on the anniversary of the U.S. joining the war, history is repeating itself again. Israel, like Britain, has an expansive intelligence network in the United States as revealed by Fox News and discussed and analyzed on Antiwar.com. Jonathan Pollard was only the tip of the iceberg. Not only that, but there is evidence to suggest the Israelis had prior knowledge of Black September before it took place or knew of something coming.

So why would our so-called "allies" withhold this information from us? Some would suggest to protect their own sources and methods of intelligence gathering. But I fear it is the same reason that British intelligence had, to get the United States more involved in their conflict. In this case, to gather US support against Islamic terrorism, and thus back Israel as they begin the process of destroying Hamas and Hezbollah and eventually the extermination of Palestinian statehood altogether, which they must have thought had been lacking since the Intifada began. What better way to do this than keeping secret a terrorist attack upon the nation's landmarks.

The connections are there, the ties of history bind 1941 to 2001, it's plain to see if this evidence is confirmed by more sources. The tentacles of foreign entanglement that George Washington warned Americans about are trying to strangle us once again. If Israeli intelligence gets involved in their war against the Palestinians as the British did against the Germans, the damage to the Old Republic that World War II did will be child's play compared to what this new war will mean to what's left of our nation's institutions.

Warning

[Regarding Justin Raimondo's column of December 14, "Et Tu Israel?":]

During Word War II, when Winston Churchill learned in advance (through Ultra intercepts) of the air raid planned by Germany on Coventry he chose not to issue a warning. Many people were killed or maimed as a result. Somehow, I have never heard Churchill condemned. It is possible that Israel learned in advance of a contemplated attack on New York City. But who were the terrorists? Do you know for sure that Israel did not warn the US? Did the US Government receive a warning and ignore it for political reasons? Your site is clearly anti-Israel and it warps your views.

Truth-Tellers

[Regarding Justin Raimondo's column of December 14, "Et Tu Israel?":]

It is said that one has to praise truth-tellers, but in our world, it's a rarity. Thank you.

American First

Just read "Et Tu Israel?." As a Jew and a former Zionist -- bravo, Justin. This is the first time I ever heard of Antiwar.com. After I read more, I realized that I'd finally found a site that is in-sync with my thinking. I am a Jewish refugee from Russia, former Zionist, a staunch Republican (Charter Member of the Republican Presidential Task Force, Republican Senatorial Committee, Charter Founder of the Ronald Reagan Republican Center in Washington). Until the Bosnian war I was quite comfortable with the party's agenda (not so with their sleepiness). After the Bosnian war it was all the time downhill. The Afghan War stunned me. This is the stupidity beyond my imagination. I almost shot my TV when I saw Netanyahu teaching us how to defend America by starting the war against all of Israel's foes -- Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq. He is a great Israeli, maybe a hero of his country, but what is he doing defining our strategies? Isn't it obvious that he has a personal stake in this? The US is manipulated by Israel and its supporters here in the US. I've despised these people ever since I saw demonstrations to "Free Pollard" -- who is in my mind a traitor of America and a traitor of American Jews. French or Russian, Jewish, Arab or Hindu -- it's up to you to be or not to be an American first and foremost. You do not have to change your views, if American interests are secondary to some other country interests for you. We do not police the thought. But do not drag us into your conflicts. We respect your views, but do not impose them on us -- go and fight for whatever you believe in, but do not you dare to manipulate us to fight for you.

Permanent Federal Dictatorship

[Regarding Justin Raimondo's column of December 14, "Et Tu Israel?":]

Not for the first time I find myself wondering why you accept the claim that Bin Laden is responsible for the 9/11 attacks. These attacks plainly required the resources of at least one modern intelligence service. And if you believe in that video purportedly discovered in Kandahar -- that is, if you think it was not "improved" by the CIA -- I have a bridge for sale. Now, before 9/11 the US had a modest budget surplus. Congress greedily spent it and more besides. Then the recession struck. The government was faced with declining tax revenues and a taxpayers' revolt with real teeth in it. The federal behemoth was about to be downsized. Look how things have changed. We now have a permanent federal dictatorship. There is no sense of financial restraint whatsoever, as the fat cats fall all over themselves to plunder the taxpayers. And you ask why our intelligence services knew about 9/11 in advance and did nothing? Continuing with the cui bono test, Israel, arguably our closest ally, had gotten itself bogged down in a war of attrition which it could neither win decisively nor sustain indefinitely. It desperately needed the US to come in on its side, but American public opinion would not support that step. Israel had all the resources and front groups necessary to recruit Islamic suicide volunteers for the operation. And you ask why Israel knew about 9/11 in advance but did nothing (except a vaguely worded last minute warning). In light of these facts, just why do you still think that Bin Laden masterminded the 911 attacks?
