Antiwar.com: Movin’ On Up

A few weeks ago we announced that Hitwise, the premier ranking company, had ranked Antiwar.com as the #10 political site on the Web.

This week, Antiwar.com moved up to #6!

  1. The commentary here, the articles, the uncompromising attitude justify this very high ranking. Its probably indicative of the sympathy of an increasingly large segment of American opinion although if you were to breathe the prevailing winds, you’d think the Democratic Party reliables at Moveon.org or Daily Kos were more representative of opposition sentiment. I think not, I think antiwar.com will be viewed by discerning readers as increasingly populist and more representative of their outlook on things. Continued good luck!

  2. I endorse John Lowell’s comments above. I first began visiting Antiwar.com in 2002. In the past five years the site has got better and better. The website layout was improved; AW Radio was added and we were thereby introduced to two great interviewers, Scott Horton and Charles Goyette; and highly knowledgeable columnists such as Philip Giraldi, Gareth Porter and Ray McGovern joined the AW team. I now visit the site every day to download AW Radio mp3s and browse the excellent commentary.

  3. Recognition well deserved. I’ve been a daily visitor since the ramp up to the Kosovo war. The consistent quality and frequency of your work is just outstanding. Maybe if Antiwar.com cracks the #1 spot I’ll have reason to hope again for the future of this country.

  4. I agree entirely with the previous comments. Congratulations, gentlemen, because you deserve all the praise that you are receiving.

  5. As a long-time reader/supporter it’s great to see that quality attracts a large audience. My sincere thanks and gratitude go out to the Antiwar.com staff. Boo-yah!

    Ta,

  6. Bravo! And about time! :-)

I’ve been a regular reader since 2001, and AW.com earned my enduring respect with its coverage prior to the invasion of Iraq. During the march to war, you guys gave a platform to marginalized contrarian voices who refuted the false rationales for war, and who proved to be right on point after point. Your track record is exemplary, and in a just and rationale world, your position in the #1 spot would be long standing.

  7. Yes, you deserve the acclaim for your accurate, prescient, non-partisan reporting.

Now if only you would have the good sense to support a real 9/11 investigation, like NOW, as the surest step to help bring us back from Bizarro World. You only contribute to perpetuating the Bizarro paradigm by pretending that nobody in the US needs to take any responsibility for 9/11. What is it with that, really? I keep asking, and you keep throwing out straw men about ‘mad-eyed ravers’.

Perhaps it’s time for Antiwar.com to develop an active wing?

    1. I agree, although I understand Antiwar.com may have decided (as a practical and political positioning matter) to take an editorial stance to focus on non-interventionism, versus government cover-up. 9/11 truth issues (like criticizing the Israel lobby) can be readily twisted to marginalize the site, so they are mainly just picking their battles. The site remains nonetheless excessively hostile to truthers, inaccurately marginalizing them as ‘ravers’ (meanwhile, one Zogby poll has 68% of the public believing in a cover-up/supporting a new 9/11 inquiry).

  8. Great news! Antiwar is the one and only site I donate money to because it is non-partisan and has such excellent and expert guests. And I love the mp3 radio interviews too. The lack of annoying banner ads is a welcome change too!

  9. Congrats.

One of the greatest strengths about antiwar.com is it’s willingness to embrace antiwar authors from across the political spectrum.

  10. It is hard for me to believe that Americans are finally seeking the Truth and ditching the BS.
My favorite web site by far!

  11. I’m a left-leaning reader (since 2002). I applaud your consistent stance against empire and your refusal to accept any justifications for “good” wars. With luck, the readers who visit the site for your antiwar articles and commentary will begin to see that the War Party includes both Republicans and Democrats, and that what this country needs is a restoration of the republic. Power corrupts, empires fall. Always.

  12. It’s good to see antiwar.com increasing in popularity. Some of the topics this site deals with are taboo in the MSM and even in the greater blogosphere. Thanks for smashing the taboos as part of getting the WHOLE truth out there. BTW we run a widget with your RSS feed on our white house protest site at yellowcakewalk dot net. More power to ya.

  13. As a Canadian reader, I’d like to commend you on an excellent website and the great work you’ve done to let people know about the terrible and needless costs of the Iraq war. Charles Goyette is one of the best interviewers on the internet, and your stable of contributing writers, particularly Paul Craig Roberts, are some of my favorites. And, as the anonymous poster a couple of comments up mentioned, its refreshing to see articles and iterviews from thoughtful people of both sides of the political aisle.

Keep up the good work !

  14. The high rating is well deserved. Antiwar.com is the first place I come for the latest news, commentary, and radio. As soon as the latest headlines are posted my time (11:OO PM MST) I come right here. I then follow up through out the following day because I know Antiwar.com is on top of it when it comes to the many conflicts around the world. Its all right here with just a click of the mouse. You do not have a lot of other, unrelated stories to sift through like you do with some websites or newspapers. In my book, Antiwar.com is number 1.

  15. I am very happy for the higher ranking Antiwar.com has earned. I have been an avid reader and frequent supporter of the only news website on my browser favorite links. I check it several times daily and read many articles and commentaries. Antiwar.com is the only source I need. Thank you for an indispensable website.

  16. Having one of those .eu types (being mocked as eeeuuu by JR…)
I have been reading AW since 2001. It is a fantastic source of non-partisan, informed, diverse and anti-war information that you can get nowhere else. I have learned so much over the years and as long as you can do your thing I know there is still hope. Don’t ever stop! And even though I can’t use my donations for tax-deduction being European and living in Europe, it’s a small price to pay for helping AW to live on. Keep up the good work!

  17. I love antiwar.com. It’s the only site that gives us sufficient information to help us counter anti-semite and neo-Nazi Bush in his attempt to exterminate Islam.

  18. As most of the other comments have stated, antiwar.com is the best! I have been a daily visitor since 1998 and feel that no other site, excepting perhaps Democracy Now and Information Clearing House, has been so consist with spreading the antiwar message. Simply, it doesn’t matter whether it’s the Kosovo-bombing Democrats or the Iraq-destroying Republicans, people who spread wars should be exposed for whom they are. Keep up the excellent work. You are appreciated and very, very important in the work of spreading sanity worldwide.

    1. Ken Biegel people like you are the reason this country has gone so far downhill you are propagandists just like the terrorists brain washing the people to belive your garbage thats all the media is about is the bad IE lohans on drugs brittenys a bad mom. come off it the only reason you do this is because propeganda sells. i would like to see this site tell the good things that have come from the war in Iraq but thats never gonna happen because the bad sells.

  19. What I find amazing globally is the fact that better than 80% of the people have heard about the NWO, aka Perestroika, The Global Neighborhood, The Illuminati, etc! With all this so-called wonderful information being put out and literally infinite websites and blogs popping up on a daily basis, why is it that none of them can come up with enough credible information to shut up the critics? I mean afterall, I have heard many people from Paul CRaig Roberts to Ron Paul talk about the NWO on different radio show interviews and while being interviewed they would always use the phrase: According to my sources:. Well, if their sources are soo credible and sure, why can none of them come up with “any” type of documentation, photos etc that can be brought to the public forefront to expose the dirt for what it is? I personally have tried to organize groups and all I get is “who are you to try and legitimize any of what they say”. All I got was that if any of this were true, then why aren’t the so-called NWO researchers finding any evidence that really exposes what I say? Personally, I think it’s put up or shutup time myself. If websites like this and many others are going to “milk” money for support, then I believe the people supporting it better be getting their money’s worth! Information on the NWO has been around for centuries, and it’s kind of like a hornet’s nest, we all know it’s there, so when are we ever gonna tear it down?

  20. YOUR WEBSITE IS A TOTAL DISGRACE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THE PROBLEM WITH YOU PEOPLE IS THAT YOU DONT SHOW THE GOOD IN THE WAR IN IRAQ YOU SHOW THE BAD WHICH IS WHAT FUELS THE ANTI WAR CROWD THATS WHAT THE MEDIA IS ALL ABOUT THESE DAYS, THE NEGETIVE OF EVERYTHING THATS WHAT SELLS YOU ARE SIMPLY IN THIS FOR YOUR OWN “GLORY” HAPPY BECAUSE YOU ARE THE NUMBER TEN MISLEADER OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IF YOU DONT LIKE AMERICA HIT THE ROAD WE DONT WANT YOU HERE!
