“Mancow” Waterboarded

Radio host “Mancow” has apparently been defending the water torture. Perhaps those days are now over.

  1. He just said it was torture because he hates America! >:-(

  2. Poor old Cheney with his bum ticker he would be a gonner and Bush well they both deserve it. I hope this thing really gets around,.

  3. Of course, this cannot compare to the real waterboarding torture nightmare as it is inflicted on detainees. The tortured detainee cannot know whether the person performing the procedure will stop before killing their victim. The victim cannot know whether the torturer will try to stop before any serious permanent harm is done. When the torture does stop, they cannot know whether it is only a pause, after which the torture will resume, perhaps for hours and hours, perhaps every day for weeks or months.

    1. Absolutely right, Eric. Also, Mancow’s mouth wasn’t covered and his hands weren’t tied down; that’s an entirely different situation from what actual water boarding victims have to endure. And yet in spite of this Mancow didn’t last for more than a few seconds before he “threw in the towel”.

Mancow is at least honest for being willing to subject himself to this and admit it when he realized he was wrong; this is more than any of the neo-cons are willing to do.

  4. I’m often mystified why people like Mancow and Limbaugh have such power in the culture. They actually do very little.

        1. Lester,

They may “seem to” but that’s pure spin. Radio talk show hosts are entertainers; they have very little real clout on their own. They simply shill for the people who have actual clout. They are mostly preaching to the choir; in a sense they play some of the role of the people working for the old ward bosses: they rally the troops, get voters to the polls, but they don’t actually command the troops. They get their marching orders and talking points from people much higher up.
