War, Money, and US Universities’ Response to Israel Divestment Protests

Peaceful protest, violent response – that says it all.

Human politics – from global to local – remain mixed with hatred, dominance and… well, dehumanization. We’ve organized ourselves across the planet around one primary principle: the existence of an enemy. The division between “us” and “them” can be based on anything: a difference in race, language, culture – or simply a difference of opinion, which is beginning to happen on campuses across the country, as peaceful, intensely determined protesters, demanding their institutions divest from the Israeli war machine, face violent resistance from police and/or counter-protesters.

Yes, the peaceful protesters are interrupting the status quo – setting up encampments, even occupying university buildings. For instance, at Columbia University, students actually renamed the occupied Hamilton Hall, declaring its new name to be Hind’s Hall, after Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old Palestinian girl killed by Israeli armed forces, along with the rest of her family (and several aid workers), as they were fleeing their home in Gaza. The point of the protests is, indeed, to change the world: to stop U.S., including university, support of the devastating “war” (i.e., carnage). They’re not trying to eliminate an enemy but, rather, illuminate the situation – putting themselves on the line to do so.

Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal: The Malignant Influence of ‘Think Tanks’

The Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal is holding accountable – through video testimony of witnesses – U.S. weapons manufacturers who produce and sell products which attack and kill not only combatants but non-combatants as well. Each week the Tribunal issues a new video segment offering evidence of guilt for the commission of War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity.

In this video episode, the Tribunal examines how “Think Tanks” pretend to be independent research bodies providing academic policy papers on various foreign policy issues; however, they are often funded by weapons manufacturers. Their pro-war narrative influences mainstream media, Congress, The Pentagon, and the President.

The Most Preventable Famine in the World

The head of the World Food Program, Cindy McCain, acknowledged the famine in Gaza in an interview on Meet the Press:

“What I can explain to you is – is that there is famine – full-blown famine – in the north, and it’s moving its way south,” she said.

McCain called for a ceasefire to allow for humanitarian relief to reach the population. That is what humanitarian agencies have been demanding for the last six months to no avail. All of them could see what would happen to the people of Gaza if the war was allowed to continue, and they have been shouting from the rooftops that famine was coming. This famine was the most readily foreseen and most easily prevented famine in decades, and that makes the shame of failing to stop it all the greater. The international response to these warnings has been pitiful, and the response from our government has been downright criminal.
