Stop Netanyahu’s Warpath Before It Becomes America’s Next War

by | Apr 30, 2025

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is once again threatening unilateral military action against Iran — boasting that Israel has set back Iran’s nuclear program by a decade and promising to strike again. These escalations, if left unchecked, threaten to entangle the United States in yet another destructive and costly war in the Middle East.

American policymakers must draw a clear line: Netanyahu’s warpath is not ours.

After more than 20 years of endless war, American taxpayers, families, and veterans continue to bear the burden of interventionist foreign policy. A war with Iran would be exponentially more dangerous and destabilizing than the Iraq or Afghanistan conflicts, risking massive regional fallout, disrupting global markets, and potentially drawing in U.S. troops once again — all in pursuit of a war the American people have not chosen.

The economic costs alone should give us pause. The United States currently provides Israel with more than $3 billion in military aid annually. Should Netanyahu’s actions provoke a broader conflict, history suggests it will be U.S. taxpayers footing the bill once more. These are resources that should be used to strengthen our own infrastructure, education, and healthcare — not fund a foreign government’s ideological crusade.

There is also the matter of strategic distraction. As the U.S. seeks to remain globally competitive in the face of rising powers like China and Russia, the last thing we need is to be pulled into another war that drains our focus, resources, and credibility. Every regional diversion is a win for our adversaries and a loss for U.S. strategic interests.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, this escalation represents a fundamental threat to U.S. sovereignty and foreign policy independence. Netanyahu’s militarism is incompatible with the pragmatic, America-first foreign policy that a growing number of Americans support. It is not in the national interest of the United States to be led into conflict by the decisions of a foreign leader — ally or not.

This is why we are urging the public to join us in calling on Congress and the administration to take a clear stand: reject Netanyahu’s push for war, reassert diplomacy as the path to peace, and affirm that U.S. support for Israel does not mean enabling destabilizing unilateral military actions.

Silence now could mean catastrophe later. We’ve seen this movie before — let’s not let it play out again.
