66 thoughts on “Obama’s War”

  1. The war in Afghanistan is lost. Perhaps it never was winnable. Obama should be moving the USA out of there, not increasing the commitment. This whole idea of a “central front of terror” or a “war on terror” is wrong. Terrorism has no “front”.

    1. RK, Al Qaeda is an ideology. Killing Bin Laden only makes him a martyr and therefore empowers the movement. Acts of terrorism relate to the violation of law. It is a policing issue. A military response to acts of non-state terrorism only fuels further acts of terrorism (they perceive as retaliation) and result in unnecessary (and counter-productive) wars.

What are you suggesting would be the outcome? A political victory for Obama? If so, it would be short lived. Bin Laden, as a martyr, would be a far more potent figure to those who sympathize with the Al-Qaeda ideology.

We continually fail to recognize that we armed, trained and aided Osama bin Laden through criminal covert actions in Afghanistan in the 80’s. As stated by several commentators, he is our Frankenstein. Unfortunately, we are reaping the seeds we sow.

      1. AC, I don’t disagree with you at all. I have no illusions about American foreign policy. It merely occurred to me that if bin Laden was killed shortly after Obama’s coronation it would thoroughly discredit George Bush’s presidency. Bin Laden served as a convenient symbol for the Bush administration. As long as he was still alive (whether he really is alive is irrelevant) American popular opinion could still be manipulated to support the “War on Terrorism”. If Bin Laden is killed now, Bush is exposed as a fraud and Obama is a hero–for a while at least.

    2. The military-industrial complex would just manufacture a new ‘boogeyman’ to justify its ever-growing power and influence. Heaven forbid there should be a peace dividend.

      1. Andy, Spot on! The need to create enemies even when there are none is the basis of the neoconservative ideology. They always need someone to fight to justify their existence.

The unfortunate Jakob Gijsbert “Jaap” de Hoop Scheffer similarly continually cries wolf as NATO was effectively useless after the collapse of the Soviet Union. His policy of aggressive NATO expansion has created a threat where one did not exists. We would have been truly stuffed if Georgia was part of NATO when it attacked South Ossetia and Russia intervened.

You’re right, there’s no profit in peace for these people.

  2. Gotta love that AP “coverage.” US and NATO forces only target ‘lawless’ regions where ‘militants’ and ‘al-Qaeda’ [and that’s it] are ‘known’ to be. ‘Most observers’ [US think-tank ‘experts’?] believe that Pakistan has forgone its sovereignty. NATO officials swear [from the bottom of their hearts — honest!] that they would never, ever violate it anyway. [End] AP = Apologia Penners.

  3. Earlier today on CNN in an interview w/ Pervez Musharraf Wolf Blitzer was sure to point out that elements within the Pakistani Army and ISI were “friendly to Al Queda and the Taliban”. The White House lap dogs were doing their usual job of towing the government’s line.

  4. As long as there is an occupation there will be resistance. Understanding this, the Afghanistan war was never winnable. Propaganda aimed at winning ‘Hearts and Minds’ can not compete against resistance allegations of ‘Invasion and Occupation’. As long as there is public support for a resistance to occupation, the availability of recruits will remain.

Our military presence and brutality (reflected through the ever growing number of civilian casualties)only fuels extremism and the number of new recruits. Simple concepts beyond the comprehension by those blinded by arrogance.

Obama may soon be truly put to the test. With an impending Israeli and/or U.S. attack against Iran, the defense agreements between Lebanon, Syria and Iran is likely to trigger a regional war. Understanding the substantial agreements between Iran, Russia and China (SCO) relating to defense, oil, gas and nuclear energy, there may be an eventual Chinese and/or Russian response.

An Indian attack on Pakistani based militant groups (as anticipated) would result in war with Pakistan. As both have a ‘no first nuclear strike policy’, even a conventional war is likely to complicate the occupation of Afghanistan considerably.

Vice-president Joe Biden, not wanting to abandon Cheney’s legacy, is antagonizing the Russians by promoting the re-arming and build-up of Georgia’s military (over $1 Billion U.S. tax payers dollars in largely military aid) to protect Israeli/U.S. interests in the region.

Yushchenko and Saakashvili perceive themselves as brothers in (U.S.) arms. Poking the bear is their latest hobby.

North Korea and South Korea/U.S. are on the brink of war with the effective collapse of the nuclear disarmament negotiations.

Susan Rice and Tony Lake are pushing for military action against Sudan, with contempt for the likely Chinese response. China’s military build-up (arguably from fear of containment) is hard to miss.

What little it would take for these situations to develop into a recognized ‘world’ war.

  5. Australia and New Zealand start looking like really appealing destinations when you consider the developing global situations. Nice beaches, great skiing, SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE!

  6. There are not a few antiwar people who, while opposing the American aggression against Iraq, support the supposed “good war” against Afghanistan.

For the umpteenth time, the American war against Afghanistan is NOT about fighting terrorism, al-Queda, or getting “former” CIA asset Usama Bin laden, whom for all we know could be long dead.

It is about geopolitics just like the war against Iraq. In particular, it is about US control over Caspian Basin energy reserves and transport corridoers as well as the encirclement of strategic rivals: Iran, China, Russia.

Central Asia has always been a key geopolitical region of the world, just like the Middle East. That is why the USA is there.

The War against Terrorism is just as much of a lie as “Weapons of Mass Destruction” or “Humanitarian” (sic) wars like Yugoslavia/Kosovo, and probably Sudan/Darfur.

    It’s about geopolitics. Always.

  7. So can we expect the Huffington Post and MoveOn.org to decry Obama’s blatent militarism and assault on a sovereign nation?

    1. NO, they will point out that young people should offer service to the “new” country and condition them for the reintroduction of the draft.
Poor, minorities and undocumented will find it much easier to serve african-american Terrorist-and-Exterminator-in=Chief than the hick from Texas.

  8. Al Quaeda, Taliban, Hamas, Hezbollah – just different ways to say “Islamic resistance to Zionism and exploitation by the West”. “War on Terror” – shorthand expression for “we will crush any Islamic resistance to Zionism or exploitation of their oil by us”. The news headlines said “War on Terror ends with closure of Gitmo”. Actually the War on Terror will only end with our disassociation with Israel and our reduced reliance on “cheap” foreign oil.

    1. Finally, another person who sees the agenda of the Zionists, be they white, black, christian or jew, they want world domination for the purposes of WEALTH, POWER, REVENGE
and BLOOD. I say eat your heart out. Go for it. You may not succeed!

  9. What really gets me going is how antiwar democrats are now saying Obama is doing the right thing. I havn’t seen much of that here. But on almost every other site the Dem’s are coming out of the woodwork in his defense. So how antiwar are these Dem’s? Did they really hate Bush’s war or just Bush? All these Damn Sheeple make me sick! People please wake the F up. Our Ruler, King, Gods are sick, they don’t care about you or me or anyone who doesn’t sign their checks. There will be no CHANGE untill they are all thrown out. The few exceptions such and Ron Paul only reinforce how bad the rest of them truly are.

    Peace!

    1. His Obamaness is a triumph of style over substance. I predict that there will be virtually no change to speak of four years from now. We’ll see.

    2. Obama is a Trojan Horse, plain and simple. Democrats are no more intelligent or rational than Republicans.

  10. I commend President Obama on taking a tough stance on hunting down Taliban and Al Quida in Pakistan. Oh for heavens sake, when will you folks finally realize that radical Islam wants to destroy not just the United States, but all of Western Civilization. How do we know that is their objective? Because they tell us so in their own words! Wake up people.

    1. Tim R,
“Because they tell us so in their words” – precisely so. Osama bin Laden told us exactly why 9-11 happened. He said it was because of our troops were in Saudi Arabia, because of our attempts to exploit the natural resources of Islamic lands, and last (but most certainly not least) because of our support for Israel’s criminal rape of Palestine. Seems to my mind that radical Islam sincerely believes that they are justifiably reacting to our crimes. To deny the legitimacy of radical Islam, you must address their complaints first, prove them wrong and then commence with your opinion. You refuse to do that, so your rants are those of a fool. You appear to be the monkey that sees not, hears not, but speaks always. Wake up, yourself!

      1. Bin laden repeatedly denied involvement in 9/11.

The taliban repeatedly offer to surrender bin laden if bunnypants will supply evidence of bin laden’s participation in 9/11.

October 7, 2001, bunnypants starts bombing afghanistan without any proof of bin laden’s involvement

A month after bunnypants starts the war in afghanistan, November 11, 2001, Rove goes to hollywood to enlist spielberg’s assistance in the war.

A month after rove’s visit to hollywood, December 14, 2001, and two months after the war starts, bin laden’s confession tape surfaces under mysterious and hard-to-believe circumstances in afghanistan.

mueller admitted, after the invasion of afghanistan, the fbi could find no evidence of bin laden’s involvement.

mueller confessed that he had no proof of the hijackers’ identity.

hijackers started popping up after 9/11, alive, well, and pissed off.

the FBI doesnt include 9/11 on their bin laden “wanted poster“… why is that? ….because they still dont have any proof of bin laden’s involvement, even after the big drama of the “confession tape”.

        1. “As for Saudi Arabia, what a load of crap! How dare they complain, what did we do wrong in Saudi Arabia? Those bastards would not even let our troops celebrate ThanksGiving because they said it was insulting Islam. We were invited their and we did nothing to descecrate their holy sites.”

How dare they complain? Your cultural ignorance is worse than you political ignorance. Our MILITARY presence was blasphemous to them. It IS insulting to Islam because they SAY it is. Oh, and cry me a freaking river about not being able to celebrate Thanksgiving. If this is representative of the grueling hardships we have to endure, what pathetically mollycoddled wusses we are.

We were invited there? Good Lord. As part of the DEAL that WE made, we were ALLOWED to have our bases in Saudi Arabia if we “rescued” the Saudis from the “threat” of Iraq. That’s right, remember the alleged satellite photos showing Iraqi troops amassed on the Saudi border? You know, the ones that were proven fictitious when the real satellite photos were released showing nothing? Playing them for fools again, and surprisingly, they don’t like it.

“But why did we do it? That is what you are leaving out.”

Oh, this is great. We’re going to get some edumacation from the master…

“The Soviets had invaded Afghanistan and at that time we saw the Soviet Union as a worse threat than the radical Muslims. So we hedged out bets and threw in with the Muslims.”

You’ve got it exactly ass-backward and this is really the most shocking revelation: this is such old news and you obviously are oblivious to it. How can you deign to understand the situation when you’re so painfully ignorant of the basics? We deliberately drew the Soviets in by creating a jihad against the Afghan government, which the people were happy with after decades of turmoil, which was peaceful, but which was just a bit too pro-Soviet for our liking. We caused all of the bloodshed for our own selfish purposes. Oh yeah, and I love how you inadvertantly acknowledge how we’ve used these people and as our puppets by admitting that we “threw in the Muslims.” This is the point at which we created the global concept of radical Islam. Congratulations on the birth of our Damian child.

      2. Richard Vajs,

In addition to the things you mentioned, Bin Laden and his henchmen, such as Aymen Zawahir have ALSO said that there will be true peace when we all convert to Islam. So why do you ignore that part of their message.

As for Saudi Arabia, what a load of crap! How dare they complain, what did we do wrong in Saudi Arabia? Those bastards would not even let our troops celebrate ThanksGiving because they said it was insulting Islam. We were invited their and we did nothing to descecrate their holy sites. But at the same time our troops are not even allowed to wear a cross or a star of david on their necks. These Saudi Arabians are low life scum and Bin Laden is Saudi.

        1. taking peak oil and global warming into account, want to tell us who had the most motive, means, opportunity and character to do 9/11?

…especially afther those PNAC people were installed into positions from which they could make “a new pearl harbor” happen…

…especially in view of the fact that they said they needed “a new pearl harbor”…

…especially in view of the fact that the once and future king of israeli american, bibi netanyahu, thought 9/11 was “very good”…

        2. Tim R,
You say … “Bin Laden and his henchmen … have ALSO said that there will be true peace when we all convert to Islam”. Oh BFD, Tim. I’ve been hearing Christian missionarys say that true peace will come if the whole world hears the message of Christ all my life.
I have no idea why Saudis wouldn’t “let our troops celebrate Thanksgiving”. I suspect that the Saudis didn’t really give a crap if our troops ate turkey and pumpkin pie and watched reruns of football games on that particular day. Sounds like some dream world ramblings of somebody like Glen Beck talking. “Saudi Arabians are low life scum” —and you are trying to convince us that Zionists, like you, are not racists?
Oh Tim, in the future it is going to get harder and harder to be a Zionist and still be intellectually respected. Zionist spokespeople, like ADL’s Abe Fox, are truly screwing up. I guess you heard his reaction to Obama’s appointment of George Mitchell as special envoy to the Mid East. Mr. Fox said that he understood George Mitchell to be a fair and even-handed person and that “bothered him”. (no joking).
Tim, whatever the Lobby is paying you for your efforts, let them know that you are going to need a raise.

        3. Correction: I meant Abe FOXMAN, not Fox. Guess, I am as much an “alte kocker” as that old fool. Abe Foxman – everyone’s embarrassing old uncle – the kind that you tie a large napkin around his neck at dinnertime because “he eats like a hassah”.

        4. TIM R, your racist rants do not assist your flawed arguments. Your statement that radical Islam wants to destroy all of western civilization reflects your absurd arguments.

If radical Islam really was as evil as your ignorantly propose, why did we arm, train and logistically support them in Afghanistan throughout the 80’s?

Al-Qeada is a political group with a political agenda, albeit with an Islamic foundation. They have stated that just as their agenda was the removal of the Soviets from ‘their lands’, their other agenda was the removal of the other foreign interference from their lands.

Your dismissal of obvious realities in preference to absurd spin, fueled by hatred and racism, is unfortunate.

        5. A C,

I have often found that charges of “racism” or “Islamophobia” or “homophobia” or any other “ism” such as “anti-semitism” are all tactics used to shut down debate and to scare people into just keeping quiet because they don’t want to be labeled with one of those dirty words. Well, I for one think its time to stop throwing those words around. Open and vigorous debate is good for our country.

As to your point about Afghanastan in the 1980’s: Of course we should not have supported the Islamic fanatics at that time. It was a very bad decision. But why did we do it? That is what you are leaving out. The Soviets had invaded Afghanistan and at that time we saw the Soviet Union as a worse threat than the radical Muslims. So we hedged out bets and threw in with the Muslims. Same reason we supported Saddam in the 1980’s, not because we liked him or thought he was a good guy, but because as compared to Iran we saw him as the lesser of two evils.

Again, I wish we had never supported any of these people. But the fact that we did does not take away one wit from the threat posed by radical Islam.

        6. what threat do radical israelis and israeli americans pose to america?

why should we support those radicals when they are clearly harming america?

        7. from haaretz, a leading israeli newspaper…

In the course of the past year, a new belief has emerged in the town: the belief in war against Iraq. That ardent faith was disseminated by a small group of 25 or 30 neoconservatives, almost all of them Jewish, almost all of them intellectuals (a partial list: Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, William Kristol, Eliot Abrams, Charles Krauthammer), people who are mutual friends and cultivate one another and are convinced that political ideas are a major driving force of history.

          White man’s burden

from jim lobe, a widely read (antiwar.com, asia times, alternet) jewish american writer

Contrary to appearances, the neoconservatives do not represent a political movement, but a small, exclusive club with incestuous familial and personal connections.

What do William Kristol, Norman Podhoretz, Elliot Abrams, and Robert Kagan have in common? Yes, they are all die-hard hawks who have gained control of U.S. foreign policy since the 9/11 attacks. But they are also part of one big neoconservative family — an extended clan of spouses, children, and friends who have known each other for generations.

Neoconservatives are former liberals (which explains the “neo” prefix) who advocate an aggressive unilateralist vision of U.S. global supremacy, which includes a close strategic alliance with Israel.

          All in the Neocon Family
…details of the jewish families, intermarried, long established, whose allegiance to israel and control of american foreign policy have gotten america into this pickle.

Whose War? A neoconservative clique seeks to ensnare our country in a series of wars that are not in America’s interest.

We charge that a cabal of polemicists and public officials seek to ensnare our country in a series of wars that are not in America’s interests. We charge them with colluding with Israel to ignite those wars and destroy the Oslo Accords. We charge them with deliberately damaging U.S. relations with every state in the Arab world that defies Israel or supports the Palestinian people’s right to a homeland of their own. We charge that they have alienated friends and allies all over the Islamic and Western world through their arrogance, hubris, and bellicosity.

long article from pat buchanan, more details of the jewish israel-firsters running foreign policy

          ——————————————-

now all we got to do is figure out these guys’ and gals’ individual motivation: some are flat-out ashkenazi racial supremacists, some are religious fanatics, some are psychopathic predators, some are (e) all the above, and all of them know they’re eventually gonna need a refuge of last resort, aka israel… a function of israel demonstrated by the yukos oil oligarchs, many of whom fled to israel.

common jews seem to be as helpless as the rest of us, as radical jews rise high enough to cause general anti-jew sentiment in which all jews are tarred with the same brush… but of course, that’s all part of the plan… the predators attempt to terrorize common jews into supporting the radicals’ projects… and that’s precisely where abe foxman and the ADL come into play.

    2. Why stop at just the western world? Surely those nefarious muslim beasts have designs on the eastern world too! They are just waiting to finish off the west and then attack Japan, Korea, Vietnam, China, etc, right?? I guess TIM R figures there isn’t any point in drawing these countries into Israel’s conflicts since they have no powerful Jewish lobbies to hijack their foreign policies.

    3. Because eventually all bombs are boomerangs! Get it?

And the Rand corp study was pretty clear… there are far better ways to deal with terrorism.
And that requires the stopping of (own) state terrorism..

    4. Tim R., you keep assuming there’s one individual called “Radical Islam.” In fact, there are rather over a billion individual Muslims, who agree on as few things as the billion + Christians.

I have a suspicion that you do not know any Muslims and that your info comes from “The Road to Morocco” and like sources.

    5. I must say, the anti-zionists here seem just as deranged as the anti-muslimists and the anti-china folks. “Time and Chance come to them all,” folks. Historical events are not determined by Vast Conspiracies of boogy-men any more than they are determined by rare conjunctions of the planets or conferences of gods on Olympus.

  11. for a couple hundred million dollars, china builds a decoy harbor at gwadar, installs a handful of cranes and floats rumors of a LNG liquefaction plant, oil refinery and tanker port at gwadar.

the chinese float rumors of pipelines through pakistan along the KKH highway from iran and the persian gulf

…india, an israeli american puppet, stalls and backpedals on the iran/pakistan/india pipeline… which it has no intention of participating in so long as pakistan is in one piece.

and israeli america bites, hook line and sinker, lured into another bog, spends trillions to overhaul pakistan, afghanistan, and iran…

    .
so china spends 200 million to lure israeli america into spending trillions… which is okay, since we got the fastest printing press in the west.

    1. So is this the new Orwellian spin to deny the reality of America’s aggression against Afghanistan now? China “lured” America into assaulting Afghanistan? This is more delusional than a standard Hollywood movie or CNN newscast.

Pathetic. Nobody lured America. The American Empire invented one Nazi-style big lie after another to justify its entire fraudulent War on Terrorism–beginning with the curious events of 9-11. The USA has had its eyes on controlling not only Central Asia but ultimately the entire Eurasian supercontinent since WWII.

American apologists are truly worse than Goebbels in terms avoiding the truth: America has ALWAYS been an aggressor nation since its spawning 230 years ago. Today, the USA seeks to impose a modern day version of “Manifest Destiny” on the entire planet–with the invasion of regions half way around the world like Southwest Asia as a key geopolitical strategy.

The USA is truly a sick, demented nation and people. It is a nation founded upon lies, built upon deception, and continued through self-serving delusions of moral righteousnes (aka American Exceptionalism).

Hopefully, America’s day of judgement is drawing nigh, and it will be held accountable for its crimes, its lies, and reap a terrible–though fully deserved–punishment.

      1. who’s “denying the reality of israeli america’s aggression against aghanistan”?

what i’m pointing out here is that china is playing go and israel and the israeli americans are playing checkers… and the chinese seem to be successful at spreading israeli american military resources so thin that all the israeli americans are accomplishing is burning up money… money that finds its way into the usual fatcat pockets.

how hard can it be to figure out israeli american intentions when they have the stupidity to publish their intentions on the PNAC website, in bill kristol’s “weekly standard” and on the AEI website?

        .
…unless the whole “benevolent global hegemony” shtick is nothing more than a cover story for looting israeli american and europe as they collapse from oil shortages?

        1. “and the chinese seem to be successful at spreading israeli american military resources so thin that all the israeli americans are accomplishing is burning up money”

This is a Orwellian formulation, worthy of the worst American spindoctor. You frame the debate so as to minimize the political responsibility of America for launching these aggressions and then tacitly PROJECT this guilt onto countries targeted by the USA no less.

No one is forcing, luring, or making America to “spread its resources thin” (i.e. wage its wars of aggression) in the first place. And how exactly is China making the poor, innocent USA do this?

America is doing it of its own VOLITION and lust for Global Dominance.

Nobody put a gun to America’s head to wage its wars. In fact, it’s the other way around. America lied repeatedly (e.g. WMDs, getting Al-Queda, blah, blah, blah) and put a gun to the head of the entire world to launch its fraudulent Global War on Terrorism.

Remember what America said: You are Either with Us or with the “Terrorists.”

In fact, China, Russia, and Iran are the ultimate targets of the American Evil Empire’s global dominance wars, as I am sure you damn well know. Iraq and Afghanistan are only the war appetizers for the “peace-loving” USA.

Like I said, these American apologists are worse than Goebbels and the Nazis in their demented unreality that they live in. For these people, war is just a “game of checkers” that the USA is supposedly losing and is “burning up money.” Waaaah! Forget about all the MILLIONS of people that America has and will murder in the future. The USA is truly a nation of sick scum that deserve to reap what they have sown–with interest.

        2. the israelis, israeli americans of the AEI, and the PNAC lashup consisting of israeli americans, deathwish christians —like gary bauer, pat robertson, jerry falwell— and corporate fascists —like cheney, rumsfeld, probably goldman sachs and GM— are responsible for driving america into these wars.

i’m discussing china’s tactical defense of itself, defense against american aggression, aggression spearheaded by the people mentioned above.

i’ve posted articles that show israeli americans were the ringleaders of the operation, and i’ve posted evidence in support of the proposition that 9/11 was a false flag, done by these same people, to provide a pretext for starting the GWOT.

if you’re unable to see a tactical advantage in china’s spreading israeli american forces thin, that’s not my problem, and it doesnt change the fact that it would be kinda hard to achieve “benevolent global hegemony” without controlling china, which explains chinese efforts to cripple the israeli american war effort.

you’re talking like a pakistani who’s afraid that china might be willing to sacrifice pakistan, and you’re also talking like someone who has an ego investment in believing an afghan caveman had the wherewithal to stage 9/11.

          .
here’s how it must have happened….

osama was on the internet one day, and stumbled across PNAC’s call for a new pearl harbor, and osama sez to himself, “huh! i’ll fix those guys’ wagons! i will stage a new pearl harbor for them! …and everyone will think those assholes from PNAC dun it!”

so osama rigged the 2000 election so the signers of the PNAC document, people like cheney, rumsfeld and the usual assortment of likud loons, got installed into positions that would have enabled them to make 9/11 happen, had they been inclined to make 9/11 happen, which they were most definitely NOT —despite their yearnings for a new pearl harbor as expressed in the PNAC document they signed…..

then osama organized everything, from the training of the pilots to the security at the airports to the standdown at NORAD to oneill’s job at the trade center, including bunnypants’ month-long absence from dc while the shit was coming down.

osama even dispatched five mossad guys to film the event….

well, you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men… little did osama know that the PNAC guys had enough juice to reverse the frameup, and osama found hisself dragging his dialysis machine from pillar to post in an effort to escape the wrath of PNAC.

          it’s a sad sad thing.

        3. why is it so hard for you to admit that the chinese have got israeli america over a barrel?

          you better stick to checkers.

        4. Thanks for sharing the info on 9-11, but I already know that it was a false-flag/inside job. If you bothered to read what I wrote above about the War on Terror having nothing to do with fighting terrorism, my comments intimated as much.

And you still really don’t you “get it.” It’s not about checkers, chess, or barrels. What’s important is the 1 million people that America has murdered in Southwest Asia and the many more people that the USA will no doubt murder in the future.

        5. i “get it” just fine, thanks.

it seems to me that you ought to direct your attention to the israelis and israeli americans who dreamed this project up instead of people who are trying to figure out who’s behind this crap.

oded yinon in 1982 recommends balkanizing muslim states, particularly iraq.

1992, paul WOLFOWITZ and scooter LIBBY, cheney’s convicted ex-chief of staff, produce a defense policy guidance paper. the paper was the first generation of what was to become PNAC and later official US foreign policy, and recommended attacking iraq. the paper was leaked to the new york times, and public outcry was such that wolfowitz’s paper was disowned and revised.

1996, richard PERLE and some of the usual likud israeli american suspects write a paper for bibi NETANYAHU calling for the occupation of iraq. the paper was entitled: “a clean break: securing the realm“… and the “realm” to be “secured” was israel.

1997, PERLE forms PNAC with nominal founders robert KAGAN and bill KRISTOL, and all the usual likud suspects

september 2000, PNAC issues a document, “rebuilding america’s defenses”, calling for control of oil in the middle east and central asia. the document says that the military transition to enable that control will be slow to materialize without a new pearl harbor to mobilize america

september 2001, PNAC’s “new pearl harbor” materializes in the form of four hijacked airliners

september 2002, PNAC’s “rebuilding america’s defenses”, the document that called for the “new pearl harbor”, is adopted by the bunnypants administration as its National Security Strategy, in some cases, verbatim.

        6. you can whine, weep, and gnash your teeth about the people murdered by america, but until you identify the murderers, you’re not much help, are you?

all you got is some amorphous “america”, populated by “sick scum” and “sick, demented…people”.

apparently you’ve never heard of neocons or their ambitions to establish “benevolent global hegemony” by achieving “full spectrum dominance” and “nuclear primacy“… “nuclear primacy” that includes plans for nuke first strikes on russia and china.

          who are these people?

oded yinon in 1982 recommends balkanizing muslim states, particularly iraq.

1992, paul WOLFOWITZ and scooter LIBBY, cheney’s convicted ex-chief of staff, produce a defense policy guidance paper. the paper was the first generation of what was to become PNAC and later official US foreign policy, and recommended attacking iraq. the paper was leaked to the new york times, and public outcry was such that wolfowitz’s paper was disowned and revised.

how do they intend to accomplish their “benevolent global hegemony”?

the sort of missile defenses that the United States might plausibly deploy would be valuable primarily in an offensive context, not a defensive one — as an adjunct to a U.S. first-strike capability, not as a standalone shield. If the United States launched a nuclear attack against Russia (or China), the targeted country would be left with a tiny surviving arsenal — if any at all. At that point, even a relatively modest or inefficient missile-defense system might well be enough to protect against any retaliatory strikes, because the devastated enemy would have so few warheads and decoys left.

The Rise of U.S. Nuclear Primacy Council on Foreign Relations Foreign Affairs, March/April 2006

would you like to whine a little bit about the neocons’ intent to do nuke first strikes on russia and china?

        7. You have a talent for stating the obvious, Einstein. I am already familiar with America’s Nuclear Primacy, PNAC, Full-spectrum dominance etc. This is OLD NEWS. Don’t act like you are the first one to discover this. You are probably just now awakeningn to the 9-11 issue right–even though the 9-11 Truth Movement has been around for years.

“you can whine, weep, and gnash your teeth about the people murdered by america, but until you identify the murderers, you’re not much help, are you?

all you got is some amorphous “america”, populated by “sick scum” and “sick, demented…people”.

Like I said, you have chilling manner of dismissing all the millions that America has genocided. For you, it’s all a game, ain’t it? A game of checkers no less.

You must be American. Cause you still don’t get it. American elites like the PNAC that you are just now “discovering” can plot, plan, and execute America’s criminal wars BECAUSE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SUPPORT IT or DON’T HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH IT.

Like you, they can glibly dismiss these murders because they think they are all snug and safe in their little American bubble reality.

“would you like to whine a little bit about the neocons’ intent to do nuke first strikes on russia and china?”

This statement is classic Americanism. Making light of an American nuclear aggression that would kill millions. Only in a sick nation like America. A people without soul.

But just remember one thing, dog, what goes around comes around. In spades.

        8. you need to admit to a couple things:

first, the american people were lied into these wars.

second, these wars are basically wars to secure israel.

third, in order to secure israel, control of energy, especially oil, has to be established, more especially because it’s likely world oil production has peaked.

fourth, this is the last chance to establish bill kristol’s “benevolent global hegemony” before the oil runs out.

fifth, the american media and political apparatus is controlled by zionists who must lie because their project couldnt survive the truth.
          .

on an end note, would you like to discuss kristol’s “benevolent global hegemony” and the fact that the effort to achieve that “benevolent global hegemony” has, so far, killed a million people?

          some “benevolence”, huh?

        9. until you identify the murderers, you’re not much help, are you?

…or are you maybe advocating that all 303,824,640 americans be wiped out?

        10. Naw, I wouldn’t dare think about touching a single hair on the head of your precious Good Americans. God forbid America be treated as it has routinely treated other people since the first “Pilgrim” began his genocide against the Native Indians.

And there’s something that you need to admit. Like the Zionists, Americans have their own quasi-religious delusions. It’s called American Exceptionalism. You know, all that patriotic horseshit about the USA being a “City on a Hill” chosen by God, etc.

Hell, the similarities are revealing: Just as the Jews think they are God’s chosen people, Americans think they are God’s Chosen empire/nation. In either case, they are both The Religious Select.

Another similarity: The USA is an Anglo European settler nation founded upon the theft of Native Indian lands while Israel is an Ashkenazi European settler nation founded upon the theft of native Palestinian lands.

As far as I’m concerned, America and Israel are different heads of the same snake, and both deserve to be called out and dealt with as such.

That is why the United Snakes and Shitrael are such close bosom buddies and “democratic allies.”

And in case you hadn’t figured out yet, the USA’s “Benevolent Global Hegemony” is just the latest propaganda slogan for a time-honored US ambition: Aggressive expansionism and wars. Ever heard of American Manifest Destiny? It does back to the 19th-Century.

You also might want to reexamine the “We’re Running Out of Oil” mantra that all the Peak Oil Chicken Littles are pushing.

The Recurring Myth of Peak Oil
          http://www.counterpunch.org/zadeh10012008.html

But thanks for sharing your latest “discovery,” man.

        11. if peak oil is bogus, how come oil production’s been flat (table 1.1d), despite a doubling of the number of drills (since january 2002), and a seven-fold increase in price?

if there’s so much oil, why are oil companies drilling hundreds of miles offshore, in two miles of water and two more miles of dirt under that, and spending hundreds of millions of dollars per well to find such piddling amounts of oil in such inconvenient, expensive places?

during the last 75 years, american exceptionalism has been based on petroleum, but our oil production peaked in 1970, and the shakers and movers have been planning the peak oil endgame ever since…

…it’s just too damn bad that, in those 75 years, we became so exceptional that we now dominate the global economy, it’s too damn bad that we also became the protector of israel, and and it’s way too damn bad that now we’re attempting to defend our dominance (and protect israel) until israel can be secured.

          you say:

“I wouldn’t dare think about touching a single hair on the head of your precious Good Americans. God forbid America be treated as it has routinely treated other people since the first “Pilgrim” began his genocide against the Native Indians.”

sounds to me like your brains have been curdled by hate.

    .
you guys really think you can pull this off, or is this just the cover story for looting western civilization as it collapses from impending peak oil?

  13. It’s worth pointing out that Congress has never issued a formal declaration of war against Pakistan, a sovereign country and a supposed ally. Well, at least the corrupt regime is our ally. The same cannot be said for the vast majority of Pakistanis, who see us as bullies.

Constitutionality aside, this latest act – the first murders of the Obama administration – will do nothing to further American security. In fact, it will further enrage and de-stabilize a regional powder keg, one which we should all remember possesses nuclear weapons. Under extreme conditions, it could very well induce the involvement of India. This does not bode well for those of us seeking an end to this silly and stupid “war on terror.”

For those of you who thought Obama represents legitimate change, you’re in for serious disappointment.

    1. Steve, just a point of information:

Congress has not issued a formal declaration of war since December of 1941.
They need to grow some balls and stop abdicating their Constitutional duties.

      1. Congress has not issued a formal declaration of war since December of 1941.
They need to grow some balls and stop abdicating their Constitutional duties.

seeing as how congress is owned, lock stock and barrel by israel, what would be the point of congress resuming their constitutional duties?

    1. You Tube “Bush Iraq Nothing” and you’ll see a clip of him saying Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and Saddam had no WMDs in a press conference no less. As you pointed out the FBI Wanted poster never mentions 9/11 as one of bin Laden’s crimes which means this whole war is completely based on lies.

  14. We didn’t elect President Obama to dig us bigger hole in Afghanistan. We’ve been there over seven years and there’s no end in site. Today there was news that we bombed Pakistan. The Democrats and Republicans have no plan for peace. They just want the “war industry” to make fantastic profits. It’s time for the Afghanis to solve their own problems, we are not solving anything in Afghanistan.

  15. TIM R, I have no intention to silence debate but your consistently flawed arguments (and claims of groups with aims to destroy western civilization) reflect a rather inaccurate view of historic and current events.

You suggest that the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and this triggered the CIA operations and support of the Mujahideen in Afghanistan?

“In 1998, Brzezinski was interviewed by the French newspaper Nouvel Observateur on the topic of Afghanistan. He revealed that CIA support for the mujaheddin had started before the 1979 Soviet invasion, knowingly increasing the probability of a Soviet invasion. Brzezinski saw the invasion as an opportunity to embroil the Soviet Union in a bloody conflict comparable to America’s experience in Vietnam. He referred to this as the ‘Afghan Trap’ and viewed the end of the Soviet empire as worth the cost of strengthening militant Islamic groups.”
    (Wikipedia: Zbigniew Brzezinski)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zbigniew_Brzezinski

    Also:
“Roger Morris, a former Foreign Service Officer and National Security Council staff member under presidents Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon, writing in the Asia Times, argues that as early as 1973-74, the CIA began offering covert backing to Islamic radical rebels in Afghanistan……”

According to Morris, by autumn 1978, an Islamic insurgency, armed and planned by the U.S., Pakistan, Iran and China, and soon to be actively supported, at Washington’s prodding, by the Saudis and Egyptians, was fighting in eastern Afghanistan. U.S. planners continued funding the radical Islamic insurgency to “suck” the Russians into Afghanistan.

    ………..

Before the Afghanistan war, the progressive Afghanistan government, backed by the Soviet Union, had introduced policies including freedom of religion, advanced women’s rights, education for women….well, just read the following from wikipedia:

“Once in power, the PDPA moved to permit freedom of religion and carried out an ambitious land reform, waiving farmers’ debts countrywide. They also made a number of statements on women’s rights and introduced women to political life. A prominent example was Anahita Ratebzad, who was a major Marxist leader and a member of the Revolutionary Council. Ratebzad wrote the famous May 28, 1978 New Kabul Times editorial which declared: “Privileges which women, by right, must have are equal education, job security, health services, and free time to rear a healthy generation for building the future of the country …. Educating and enlightening women is now the subject of close government attention.”

The majority of people in the cities including Kabul either welcomed or were ambivalent to these policies. However, the secular nature of the government made it unpopular with religiously conservative Afghans in the villages and the countryside, who favoured traditionalist ‘Islamic’ restrictions on women’s rights and in daily life.

The U.S. saw the situation as a prime opportunity to weaken the Soviet Union. As part of a Cold War strategy, in 1979 the United States government (under President Jimmy Carter) began to covertly fund forces ranged against the pro-Soviet government, although warned that this might prompt a Soviet intervention, (according to National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski).

In order to bolster the Parcham faction, the Soviet Union—citing the 1978 Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Good Neighborliness that had been signed between the two countries—intervened on December 24, 1979.
    (Wikipedia: Afghanistan)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghanistan

Whether we like it or not, the Soviet Union introduced its armed forces, they argue to support the progressive Afghan government that was under threat from the (covertly U.S. backed) ‘radical’ Mujahideen in December 24, 1979, long after the introduction of CIA operations in Afghanistan.

Tim, I do not object to debate. I do object to you making up history as you go. Debate is welcome but factual debate, not fantasy. As for the threat of ‘radical’ Islam, I would suggest that our ongoing actions (invasions, occupations, drone attacks, support of Israeli brutality against the Palestinians, etc.) are in fact fueling extremism. If we continue to reject a political solution what options do they have? Our escalation leads to their escalation of hostilities. And the intelligence services think this is intelligent policy?

  16. Until we learn that covert hostile actions are still acts of war, we will continue to create more conflicts that will always end in some form of ‘blowback’.

Information gathering and legal prosecutions may be legitimate but covert hostile activities are generally interpreted as acts of war.

  17. The MoveOn, DailyKos folk will fall in line. They’ll support the Afghan war because the enemy is homophobic and makes its women-folk wear burqas.
