Busily Making More Enemies in Pakistan

U.S. policy is succeeding brilliantly … in making more enemies in Pakistan. Reports McClatchy Newspapers:

For weeks now, the Pakistani media have portrayed America, its military and defense contractors in the darkest of lights, all part of an apparent campaign of anti-American vilification that is sweeping the country and, according to some, is putting American lives at risk.

Pakistanis are reacting to what many here see as an “imperial” American presence, echoing Iraq and Afghanistan, with Washington dictating to the Pakistani military and the government. Polls show that Pakistanis regard the U.S., formally a close ally and the country’s biggest donor, as a hostile power.

U.S. officials have either denied the allegations or moved to blunt the criticism, but suspicions remain and relations between the two countries are getting more strained.

The great flaw in the Neocon vision of the world, in which the U.S. bombs anyone who gets in the way of America’s designs and then everyone else quickly genuflects as Washington’s representatives walk by, is that other peoples typically respond to U.S. diktats with the same nationalistic obstreperousness that long has characterized Americans. In short, just as Americans don’t want foreigners telling them what to do, foreigners don’t want Americans to tell them what to do. So maybe it’s time to stop trying to impose the U.S. government’s will on everyone else around the globe.

  1. Just another confirmation that "Warz 'R Us"'s new CEO is continuing to run the business the same way his predecessor did for eight years, only picking up some new clients along the way. But what else did we expect to happen?

  2. Since Borat Obombya is escalating the war, I wonder if he will repeat the infamous words of Bushtard: "Freedom is on the march."

  3. The PROBLEM is the people who run the U.S. government don't pay the price for their imperial pretensions. It is the Helots beneath them who do.

  4. And they always would claim that they make the country stable when all they do is make unstable!

  5. The Afghanis fought and killed the mongols for two hundred years till they left, they fought the huns, they fought and killed the British for seventy years till they left, they fought and killed the Russians for twenty years till they left, they will fight you the Canadians and Yanks and kill you…….TILL YOU LEAVE. The sons and grandsons and daughters and great great grandsons will fight you and kill you till you leave. Don't we get this? They have done nothing to us except run our variety stores working twenty hours a day which white men won't do. As usual the weak Canadian govt. is a**-kissing the Americans and fighting a capitalist, imperial war to allow pipelines from Uzbekistan one day. It's not about building a school or democracy you don't drop two thousand pound bombs on those you help. Opium that is not their problem and not our business we need to stop our problem at home as to why our youth want heroin not go to another country and tell them what to do. Who are you oh great Canada look at your Indian reserves and the outports in Nfld who boil water for ten years yet we have a Tim Hortons in Kabul. Priorities? do you have any? How would you feel if they did not like Barley and came to war in Canada to eradicate the Barley crop. These people are proud for two thousand years and you a mere youth of 250 years are telling them how to live. Canada you are afraid of the USA look at the non drug commercial hemp plant with over 200 fine uses, oil cloth rope, paper yet you are afraid to grow it because of US pressure. Now you let your children die for them. I have been there and met these people just go home and leave them alone. If their women are covered so what, you cannot even fix your own country Good luck and the boys from Carterville will continue dying until you leave. BB

    1. Good comment-Unfortunately the huge Military-Industrial complex has to be sustained-For that wars are necessary-to justify these imperial wars lies are continuously circulated-till most of the public is fooled-

    2. Most Canadians oppose their troops being there. Not that their government ever asked them what they wanted. But as far as Afghanis working "twenty hours a day at jobs White men won't do" that is a canard. Many, perhaps most Afghanis in Canada are on welfare and live in public housing. The Canadian sheeple were'nt asked about that either.
