The Mailed Fist

In Egypt we see the true nature of the State — all States, everywhere – revealed as the mask is dropped and Mubarak’s hired thugs (paid for with your tax dollars, my friends) wreak mayhem on peaceful demonstrators. Mubarak supporters  must have been listening to their American supporters —  Mike Huckabee, John Bolton and Rep. Thad McCotter — on Fox News, and taken heart.

  1. "…the true nature of the State…"

And the alternative to the State is a war of all against all that makes the State look like heaven on earth.

    1. That's what Mubarak is telling the Egyptian people. Would you care to join the Hosni Mubarak Fan Club? Here, let me give you a membership application. All you need is a taste for blood and the complete lack of any moral sense. Hmmmm, looks to me like you qualify.

  2. IN a speach about the events in Egypet,Mr.Obama hypocraticllay claime that,"It is not the role of any country to determine Egypet leader, only the Egyptian people can do that".

This is very rich coming from the US that starved hunderd of thousands Iraqis and their childern, the price was worth it,in order to cange their government to the US likings. The same goes for Iran,Gaza,Lebanon,Cuba..etc.

    What a doble faced!

  3. First hand account from an Egyptologist in Cairo:

Dr, Nicole Hansen (AUC) posting from Cairo, gives a very different view of the situation than that of any other Egyptologist: that of a participant in the Tahrir Square protest today  Although her report, posted on facebook, does not concern antiquities, it may be of interest to SSEA members and others who love Egypt:

"I was at Tahrir today from 11am until shortly after the rocks started flying. I can confirm that the violence was started by criminals and secret police. They started with sending a prostitute out to taunt the peaceful demonstrators with nasty words and vulgar gestures. There were many plainclothes police in the crowd. Some openly admitting they were police. The peaceful demonstrators were being very vigilant for troublemakers. They stopped one man who they suspected was police and demanded his id. He refused at first but finally handed it over, and ran away. I saw the id with my own eyes. Before we left, we started to see ordinary people dragging away plainclothes police they had caught making trouble and handing them over to the army. The rocks started flying at this time and fortunately we got out of there as soon as a horse came in. I missed the molotov cocktails but I can assure you that it is not possible that this was the ordinary citizens who came in that brought these because the peaceful anti-government protesters were all searched and patted down on entry. The pro-Mubarak ones were allowed in from the other side by the museum, probably without a proper search.

But please understand what circumstances we are all living under here. My husband has just gone downstairs for his neighborhood guard duty of the night, armed with a heavy iron axel taken from a car that is over a meter long. With the complete disappearance of the police (except to make trouble) from the streets and the release of all the prisoners from the prisons, we have no choice. Our neighborhood goes on lockdown at sunset, a lockdown made by the people in order to protect our property, our lives and the businesses and yes even a museum and archaeological site in our neighborhood. We have checkpoints on every block and any criminals caught are handed over to the police. No one who isn't a resident is let in. The area where the museum in our neighborhood is, is being defended by ordinary Egyptian citizens with guns.

We are all very concerned about the Egyptian Museum, but please, what we need first is to restore order and save the Egyptian people."

    1. what i find most heartening in all of this is the indisputable proof that people can love their country without loving their government. american politicians should learn this lesson.

  4. All Mubarak has always used criminals, thugs ,his loyak secret police to attack demonstarters and opponents of t his regime and even during elections.

But there is this gem of Bush's poodle.
Tony Blair:Mubarak 'Immensely Courageous And A Force Foor Good'

"Tony Blair took an adversarial stance this week by defending Egypt's autocratic president as "immensely courageous, and a force for good."

According to the Guardian, the former British prime minister drew attention to Hosni Mubarak's role in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process during a Feb. 1 appearance on Piers Morgan's CNN program. He went on to note that Western governments would be best served by backing Mubarak, despite the ongoing series of increasingly deadly protests throughout Egypt. 5. People: what is happening in Egypt is yet another orchestrated police and secret service Mubarak thugs whom are attacking people.., if you want to do something about it call the White House and demand from President Obama to act and cut off the aid to Egypt until Mubarak is out.., this has been the demand by the people of Egypt and thus far is been a peaceful demand. For democracy to flourish democracy needs to help democrats’ whom demands are based on the principals in democracy, helping Mubarak is helping his thugs.., so where is that democracy that US is talking about. plz call Obama's hotline 202-456-1111.
